Meet Jesse Wig

We recently connected with Jesse Wig and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jesse, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

To be able to pinpoint this answer or any answer I would have specific to the type of questions I was provided, would be extremely challenging. However, if I was too zoom out and try to identify one thing as to where my work ethic came from, I’d attribute that quality to my parents. Although divorced, both of my parents are extremely hard workers. I have done my best to emulate this amazing quality they both have.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am a Real Estate Investor and entrepreneur. I own Lifespace Real Estate, a Real estate brokerage with over 20 Agents. I also own a portfolio of over 10 million in Real Estate investments. One of the more notable investments I’ve been a partner on is our High School to Apartment conversions we’ve completed. Collectively between my two partners and I, we have purchased 5 schools in the last 5 years. Although I am slowly starting to gain some traction and build up a portfolio, it has not been without hardships. On my very first flip, I lost $43,000. However, I am excited to have driven ambitious people around me and we are ready to grow both Lifespace Real Estate and Atlas Estates to the next level.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

It’s difficult to identify just three skills or traits that have been the most impactful for me. However, I’d have to say the following three come to mind.

1.Taking action even when you do not have all or any of the answers.
2. Developing your ability to manage stress and not let that negativity impact your mindset or goals.
3. Identifying people that are smarter than you putting them in place to help you all become successful

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

First, you need to take a step back. Slow down and slow your breathing. Remove yourself from that current situation if possible. I then lean into what I know to be true for me – that my highest and best chance of figuring out the current situation or handling the item or items that is the cause of being overwhelmed is when I’m in a clear and postive state of mind. So step one is to get myself back to that state. I do that by changing my environment – laying down and breathing. Stepping out of the office and walking down the block. Relaxing my body and determining just one item I am going to tackle first. Accomplish that “small” thing and you’ll begin to gain momentum and can then get back to addressing all of the items that have negatively impacted your mind.
