We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jessica Bayers a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, so excited to have you with us today and we are really interested in hearing your thoughts about how folks can develop their empathy? In our experience, most folks want to be empathic towards others, but in a world where we are often only surrounded by people who are very similar to us, it can sometimes be a challenge to develop empathy for others who might not be as similar to us. Any thoughts or advice?
The conditions that allowed me to develop my empathy were rooted in my upbringing and life experiences. Growing up surrounded by scarcity, I felt the weight of financial insecurity and the emotional impact it had on those around me. These experiences heightened my sensitivity to the struggles of others, particularly the emotional and energetic toll of living in survival mode.
As I grew, I found myself naturally drawn to healing practices and spiritual work, which deepened my ability to connect with others on an intuitive level. My work with yoga, abundance coaching, and energy healing has taught me to listen deeply—not just to words but to the energy and emotions behind them. This foundation, combined with my neuroscience background, allowed me to develop a compassionate understanding of the nervous system and how external pressures shape people’s lives.
Creating community spaces, like my Women’s Circles and workshops, has been another key factor. Being surrounded by people sharing their stories and vulnerabilities has expanded my ability to hold space for others and truly see them in their fullness.
Ultimately, my empathy has flourished through a mix of personal struggles, professional growth, and the conscious choice to live a life aligned with abundance and intuition. These elements combined to help me not just understand but also deeply feel the experiences of others.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Hi, my name is Jessica. I’m an abundance coach and spiritual guide, dedicated to helping individuals—especially wellness practitioners, spiritual visionaries, and those in service-based roles—transform their relationship with money and energy. My work combines intuitive tools like tarot and coaching with practical abundance strategies, creating a unique and empowering approach to living an abundant life.
What excites me most about what I do is witnessing the transformation in my clients. Many of the people I work with come from places of burnout, scarcity, or uncertainty, and helping them step into their power, align with their desires, and experience tangible shifts in their lives is truly magical. My approach is rooted in making abundance feel accessible and enjoyable, focusing on alignment and fulfillment rather than rigid goal-setting.
Right now, I’m focused on several exciting initiatives. I recently launched my Abundance Portal, a multi-tiered program that includes immersive experiences like Women’s Circles, a book club, and transformative abundance workshops. Each tier is designed to meet people where they are and help them expand their energy, income, and overall sense of well-being. This offering is based in Boulder, CO.
In 2025, I’ll be hosting an online Abundance Academy. So for anyone who is not in Boulder, keep your eyes open for more on that in the near future.
I also love integrating tarot into my coaching practice, teaching clients how to use it as a tool for clarity and decision-making in their personal and professional lives. My goal is to help people reconnect with their intuition and break free from traditional limitations around abundance and success.
For anyone interested in diving deeper into abundance and energy work, I encourage you to check out my upcoming events or explore my resources, like the Abundance Archetype Quiz, which helps individuals discover their unique path to abundance. I’m always excited to collaborate with like-minded individuals who are ready to embrace abundance in all areas of their lives.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, three qualities that were most impactful in my journey are resilience, intuition, and resourcefulness, each developed through pivotal moments that shaped my life and work.
Resilience became a cornerstone of my life after my family lost our home as a result of the 2008 housing crisis. At the time, I was babysitting for a family that resided within a gated community. I lived with my grandparents. Seven of us all crammed into a tiny house where there were more TV’s than people, and they were on at all hours of the day. To this day, I still wear ear plugs to bed. Hearing the mother of the family I nannied for complain about their $10,000 rug made me so mad I could have spit while she was talking. After working for 2 years my going away gift was a wallet. I’ll never forget how ironic it felt. I eventually moved to Colorado, with $100 in my account to rebuild a life for myself. It took me 8 years and several financial setbacks to graduate college and a few more years after the fact to build a career that now earns me well over six figures. Every struggle taught me perseverance, and I’m grateful for the abundance it led me to. What’s even better is that I’m 10 years in and I know that this is just the beginning.
Intuition has been my guiding light, even when my decisions defied logic. Dropping out of college wasn’t an option. But working at a Montessori School and get my yoga teacher certification training were choices I consciously made. While my friends thrived in the service industry during their 20s, I worked a grueling 60-80 hour work weeks for $15-20 an hour. Those tough years built the foundation for the success I have today. Trusting my intuition, even when it wasn’t glamorous, led me to where I needed to be.
Resourcefulness is my superpower, and it’s why I became an abundance coach. In March 2020, I was back in school for neuroscience, waiting tables, and building my yoga business. When everything shut down I lost all seven streams of income within 24 hours. Instead of panicking, I got creative. I had one payment left for tuition that semester (I didn’t take out loans and paid it all myself) so I called the school and asked “What can you do to help me?” They found $500 of grant money which covered my $275 tuition bill and I got to keep the remaining money. Then I leveraged my experience in education to offer at-home Montessori childcare, quickly finding a high-paying family that supported me until 2021. This is just one example of how I turn challenges into opportunities and weave abundance into my life.
These qualities have not only shaped my personal journey but also fuel my mission to help others create their own paths to abundance. My advice for others is to trust your intuition, embrace challenges as opportunities for growth, and get creative with the resources you have—you have no idea the ability you have to create abundance no matter the circumstances in your life.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed, I return to a concept I learned in my Yoga Teacher Training: build from simple to complex. Overwhelm often comes from trying to do too much at once or adding unnecessary complexities. In yoga, the simplest pose is savasana—lying on the ground, fully supported. Similarly, in life, the key is breaking things down into their simplest form. If a big project feels daunting, start with one small step.
The 2.0 version of this is finding the most simple step that will lead you to your desired outcome. That last part is key. So let’s say you’re trying to start a business. What is a business in the most simplest terms? Exchanging goods or services for money. So what would be the simplest thing to do to start a business? Build a website? Go to networking events? Maybe. But in reality, you just need to create an offer (or product) and ask people you know to buy it. Thats it. The website, and networking events, and all of that can come later. Because those are more complex tasks that often require new skills.
This plays a big role in living abundantly. If your goals are big, that’s great, but we have to start with the most simple version of it possible. Start with what you know and the resources you already have. It’s the best way to beat overwhelm. It’s not very sexy or glamorous, but it’s those actions that build the path to the sexy and glamorously abundant life you know you deserve to live.
