Meet Jessica Cure

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jessica Cure. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Jessica, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

I’ve always been high achieving from a young age and my father always nurtured me when I made mistakes by asking me what I learned from them and then teaching me how to move forward with that new knowledge. I also suffered with an autoimmune disease which led to a complete life change in 2012 when I found myself in a hospital. I had to be very resilient then to overcome my health issues which took years to get through. I learned how very strong I was and how to start my life all over again with a new trajectory which proved that I could do anything I set my mind to.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Absolutely! My journey has always been driven by a deep passion for creative projects and a fascination with the intricate details of interior design, real estate, and construction. I’ve always thrived on the challenge of bringing ideas to life, whether it’s transforming a space into something stunning and functional or strategizing to solve complex problems. My work is a blend of art and strategy, where every detail matters.

What excites me the most is the ability to create spaces that are not only beautiful but also eco-conscious and highly functional. There’s something incredibly rewarding about seeing a project come together—knowing that it’s not just aesthetically pleasing, but also serves the people who live in or use the space in a meaningful way.

My brand, Cure Designs, is all about merging creativity with strategic insight. I aim to offer my clients and mentees something unique: a blend of design flair with an unwavering commitment to excellence. I also have a deep passion for community building, which led me to serve as a Planning Commissioner in my city near Joshua Tree National Park. This role allows me to contribute to the development and growth of my community, something that I find incredibly fulfilling.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Reflecting on my journey, three qualities stand out as particularly impactful: resilience, a commitment to lifelong learning, and the ability to strategize from setbacks.

First, resilience has been key. Growing up in an entrepreneurial and creative environment, I witnessed firsthand the ups and downs of business through my parents. My dad, a contractor, and my mom, a creative visionary with an eye for real estate, instilled in me the importance of bouncing back from challenges. That resilience carried me through the various ventures I’ve embarked on, from launching brick-and-mortar businesses to event production. Each setback was a lesson, teaching me to push forward no matter what.

Second, a commitment to lifelong learning has been invaluable. I’ve always been fascinated by design and real estate, so I studied marketing and interior design to deepen my understanding. But the learning didn’t stop there. Whether it was gaining expertise in project management, land use, or planning, I made it a point to continuously expand my knowledge. This commitment to learning is something I encourage everyone to embrace. The more you know, the better equipped you are to handle the complexities of any industry.

Third, the ability to turn mistakes into strategic opportunities has been crucial. In every business venture, there are moments when things don’t go as planned. Instead of seeing these as failures, I’ve learned to view them as opportunities for growth. Strategizing how to improve from those shortcomings has allowed me to refine my approach and ultimately achieve greater success.

For those early in their journey, my advice is to never stop learning. Invest time in developing new skills, stay curious, and seek out knowledge in areas that will help you grow. When you encounter obstacles, don’t let them stop you. Instead, analyze what went wrong, learn from it, and use that knowledge to strategize your next steps. And most importantly, keep moving forward. Good things take time, and persistence is often the difference between success and giving up. Remember, every setback is a setup for a comeback if you approach it with the right mindset.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?

The past year has been a game-changer for me, especially in terms of going all in on real estate and really honing in on my niche—planning, permitting, and project management for real estate investors. It’s been about doubling down on what I’m passionate about and aligning that with where I see the most value for my clients.

To grow my business in these areas, I’ve put a lot of focus on building my social media presence, networking like crazy, and collecting solid reviews and testimonials. But let me tell you, it hasn’t always been easy. There were months that felt so tough—nights where I’d lie awake wondering how I was going to make it through. Moving out to the desert and having to start my network from scratch was daunting. It felt isolating, like I was doing everything on my own.

But then I realized something huge: I’m not alone. I’ve got so much support from my loved ones, and that’s made all the difference. I had to let go of people who were just draining my energy and trying to hold me back. Setting boundaries and staying laser-focused on my goals was a major turning point. I had to say no to a lot of things that didn’t align with where I wanted to go, and that was hard, but it’s also what got me to where I am now. And let me tell you, it feels amazing.

My advice? Don’t let anyone—or anything—pull you off course. Focus hard on your goals, protect your energy, and keep moving forward, even when it feels tough. The growth you’ll experience on the other side is so worth it.
