We were lucky to catch up with Jessica Fields recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, so happy to have you on the platform with us today and excited to chat about your lessons and insights. Our ability to make good decisions can massively impact our lives, careers and relationships and so it would be very helpful to hear about how you built your decision-making skills.
Honestly, I think strong decision-making comes with being a military brat, an eldest daughter, and an ambitious goal-getter. I learned early that clarity and direction are everything.
From a young age (dare I say my teenage years), this really started to show as I had to start making bigger decisions that would impact my life. It quickly became quite clear, if you know where you want to go, making decisions gets a lot less scary. Whether it’s big life choices or small day-to-day ones, I ask myself: “Is this moving me closer to my goal?” If the answer is no, I move on.
Then came corporate life, a fast-paced environment where money, time, and stakes were high. I had to make decisions quickly, often with incomplete information, and that’s where I honed my ability to analyze the facts, trust the numbers, and act with confidence.
As the founder of Harbor 26 Studio, those lessons show up every day, whether I’m hiring, scaling the business, or helping clients align their social media with their goals. Over the years, I’ve learned that clarity, experience, and a little calculated risk-taking are the secret sauce for confident decisions.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m Jessica, founder of Harbor 26 Studio, a full-service digital marketing + creative agency based in Atlanta while serving clients worldwide.
We help ambitious businesses stand out by building complete brand ecosystems and curating social media strategies that actually move the needle. What I love most about my work is the mix of creativity and strategy, it’s rare to find a space where you can be methodical and imaginative at the same time, and I get to do that every day with my incredible team.
I’ve worked with Fortune 500 companies, managed marketing campaigns at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and built up marketing ecosystems at start-ups, but the highest honor is helping you grow your business with the help of my team. We always create a custom strategy and graphics (no Canva templates) for every brand we work with and are focused on the bigger picture of how socials, paid ads, and emails work together.
We are currently onboarding social media management clients, and love to dive deeper into creative direction for brand shoots and full photoshoot productions for larger campaigns. No matter your business stage, we scale with you, keeping all your marketing essentials organized and anchored in one place.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
When I was deciding to leave corporate, the determining factor was the realization that nobody has it all figured out. I thought, if I’m going to grow, learn, and create something meaningful, I need to take the leap and trust myself. It was both scary and exciting but ultimately, I knew that waiting for the “perfect” moment would only hold me back.
Secondly, having clarity about what I wanted my life and business to look like made all the difference.I knew the kind of client relationships I wanted to build, the culture of my team, and what my life would look like balancing it all in 2, 5, or ten years later.
Finally, adaptability has been just as important. Life rarely goes exactly as planned, and the ability to pivot while staying anchored to my goals has allowed me to grow both personally and professionally.
For anyone early in their journey, my advice is simple: Set clear goals for yourself and your business, even if they’re small at first. Make decisions, take action, and don’t get stuck waiting for perfection. And when things inevitably change, pivot with intention, learn from it, and keep moving forward. Surround yourself with people who challenge you, and treat mistakes as lessons, they’re some of the fastest ways to grow and level up.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
The book that’s had the biggest impact on me is Atomic Habits by James Clear. It reinforced something I’ve always believed: small, consistent actions compound into big results over time.
A few nuggets that really stuck with me:
– Focus on systems, not just goals. It’s the daily habits that actually drive success.
– Make habits obvious, attractive, and easy to stick with. Small tweaks can have massive impact.
– Progress isn’t always glamorous or instant, but consistency always wins in the long run.
Beyond that, I continuously invest in myself through reading, learning new strategies, experimenting with different approaches. I’m always looking for smarter, more effective ways to work, lead my team, and help clients achieve their goals.
