Meet Jessica Good

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jessica Good. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Jessica, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?

Creativity in my life consists of challenges and the ability to push myself. A person can not be creative in the same stale environment and for that reason I have learned to embrace the unknown. I am consistently changing up my work. Creativity encompasses so many aspects. It shines through my art. As my life changes, my art reflects it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am the owner of Evoke Artworx which specializes in Live Wedding Painting and Fine Art Commissions. My business centers around the wedding industry with an occasional commission piece. I started out with live wedding painting, but has since ventured into live guest fashion portraits, table markers, signage and venue portraits. My creativity comes into play as my business evolves and grows to offer more options to clients to make their wedding even more memorable.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Never be afraid to take a risk. Fear is the resistance that can hold you back and keep you from accomplishing your dreams. Take the chance. Put yourself out there and meet people. Networking is so essential. If you find people who share your same enthusiasm for creativity and taking risks, don’t let them go. If you meet someone who drags you down, don’t entertain them. Negative energy can sap your creativity.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

The War of Art by Steven Pressfield is such an important book to any creative type. It has helped me break through creative barriers by forcing me to fight against the resistance that plagues so many people trying to achieve their dreams.
I think of the “muse” who resides in the creative space of my mind. I push myself and the muse takes note. There is an energy that surrounds me and with each work of art that energy pushes me farther.
