Meet Jessica Harris

We recently connected with Jessica Harris and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.

When I started in wedding and event planning, I worked for another firm where I was often made to feel like I couldn’t succeed on my own. I was told I wouldn’t be good at sales or able to attract my own clients. It was disheartening, but I began noticing patterns that helped me break free from that mindset. There were projects where my ideas were implemented and turned out great, and others where my suggestions were dismissed without explanation. This contrast helped me realize that my ideas weren’t wrong—they just weren’t what the firm wanted to do, and that was okay. I realized I could explore my own approach and find success doing things my way.

Support from industry professionals was also key. Heather, a photographer and dear friend, was instrumental in helping me understand my worth. She validated my feelings, guided me through branching out on my own, and connected me with incredible opportunities. Even some clients from my previous role reached out to express gratitude for my help, which was deeply validating and a reminder of the value I brought to their experiences.

Overcoming imposter syndrome has been about monitoring my growth and celebrating my wins. Each new client I book and each milestone I reach reminds me that my success is built on my own merit and hard work. When self-doubt creeps in, I take time to decompress and refocus, because I know burnout can be a trigger.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Cue the Details is all about creating unforgettable celebrations with a strong focus on building relationships with our clients. Even for our coordination packages, we start assisting from the moment a client books with us, offering guidance and support long before the wedding day. This approach allows us to connect deeply with each couple and ensure their event is as stress-free and seamless as possible.

One of the most exciting aspects of what we do is blending creativity with connection. We absolutely love design consultations—they’re such a fun and collaborative part of the process. We also take the time to get to know each client personally, with multiple in-person meetings and consistent communication. From curating custom welcome boxes to celebrating milestones along the way, we’re there for them every step of the way. By the end of the journey, our clients often feel like they’ve gained a couple of sisters in the process, and that bond is so special to us.

We’re always looking for ways to expand and elevate our offerings. Right now, we’re exploring a consultative package for couples who feel confident planning on their own but want guidance from a professional. We’re also thrilled to be planning a destination wedding on a cruise this August, which will include a week-long reception—completely unique and exciting! Destination weddings are something we’re always open to, and we’d love to take on even more in the future.

Of course, growing our business has its challenges—like boosting social media engagement—but we’re confident that with time, our passion and dedication will shine through to a wider audience. Ultimately, Cue the Details is more than a business for us; it’s a labor of love. Our philosophy is simple: every detail matters, and every couple deserves to feel celebrated.

At Cue the Details, we truly care about our clients and their stories, and nothing makes us happier than bringing their visions to life.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, three qualities have been pivotal to my journey as a wedding and event planner: resilience, creativity, and relationship-building.

Resilience was essential, especially in the early stages, when I faced doubts and challenges that could have easily discouraged me. It was about pushing through moments of self-doubt and continuing to show up, even when things felt overwhelming. My advice? Embrace the difficult moments—they’re part of the process—and focus on learning from each experience. Resilience isn’t about never failing; it’s about getting back up and moving forward.

Creativity has also played a huge role. Not just in designing beautiful events but in problem-solving and rethinking workflows when something wasn’t working. Early in your journey, don’t be afraid to try new ideas and take creative risks. Even if something doesn’t work out, it will help you refine your approach and develop your unique style.

Lastly, building meaningful relationships has been a game-changer. From vendors who offered support and guidance to clients who became like family, the connections I’ve made have been invaluable. For those just starting, take the time to network and foster genuine relationships within your industry. Attend events, follow up with people, and offer value to others without expecting anything in return—it will pay off in ways you can’t imagine.

Ultimately, success isn’t about knowing everything right away; it’s about being willing to grow, adapt, and put in the effort to become the best version of yourself in your field.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

The most impactful thing our parents did for us was to lead by example as entrepreneurs, fostering our business knowledge and work ethic from a young age. They instilled in us the value of hard work, perseverance, and the importance of balancing ambition with integrity. As soon as we got our work permits at 14, we began working for them, often commuting back and forth from Long Island to NYC. Those early experiences gave us firsthand insight into running a business and the dedication it requires. This foundation has been instrumental in shaping our success with Cue the Details, and we’re incredibly proud to come from a family of entrepreneurs who inspired us to dream big and work hard to achieve those dreams.
