We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jessica Huffman. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jessica below.
Hi Jessica , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
It comes from God first. Knowing what He’s done for me, how could I not live my life in service to others? My father always taught me that if I solve other people’s problems, I will never be without a job! So, I always set out to have fun while solving problems along the way… It turns out, I discovered my strengths, skill set, and so many wonderful opportunities. Showing up every day with a great attitude, ready to serve people and leave them a little more encouraged than when I began has been my life mission!
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Currently, I’m serving (as a pastor) at my local church, Pneuma (Nooma) Life Church, in Saint Johns County, Florida, alongside my husband! In the era of mega-churches and leaders, we’ve chosen to focus on community, serving, and discipleship. We love coming alongside people, cheering them on in every season of life, and pointing them back to Jesus. It’s been one of the hardest and most rewarding roles of my life. Being a female and also a “pastor” has made quite a splash in the church arena, as MANY people don’t believe that’s a role women can fulfill. I’ve encountered hurdle after hurdle of why ‘I’m too much’ or don’t fit the ‘pastor’s wife’ mold, and yet, with the support of my husband and a clear commitment to God’s call…I keep showing up! The truth is, role or no role, I would still do the same thing. I also love social media and showing up well. I started a side hustle about 1.5 years ago where I can help others show up well in the online space!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Soft heart, thick skin, and teachability!
How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
I would travel the world, learning stories, experiencing new cultures, and trying new foods and hopefully get to share their story with others!
