Meet Jessica Midthun

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jessica Midthun. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jessica below.

Jessica, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.

I keep creativity alive by staying inspired and connected to the things that bring me joy. Photography is a huge outlet for me. I’m constantly looking for new ways to capture authentic, emotional moments that tell a story. Being intentional about slowing down and noticing the little things around me sparks new ideas. I also balance my creative projects, like working on my writing, with self-care, movement, and time in nature, which helps keep my mind fresh. Finally, I’ve learned that creativity thrives when you give yourself permission to explore without pressure and lean into the process.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

At The715, I specialize in lifestyle photography, capturing real, emotional moments that tell the story of love, connection, and everything in between. My focus is on family, couples, and senior portraits, creating images that feel timeless and authentic. What I love most about what I do is getting to preserve fleeting moments – the laughter, the quiet embraces, and all the little details that make life beautiful.

What makes The715 special is the experience I create for my clients. It’s not just about taking photos; it’s about making them feel comfortable, seen, and celebrated. I love connecting with people and helping them feel at ease in front of the camera so we can create magic together.

Right now, I’m especially excited to be expanding into wedding photography and working on building my portfolio. I’ve also recently launched seasonal sessions, like Christmas Minis, and am planning more fun offerings in the future! My goal is to continue growing The715 while staying true to the heart of what I do, which is capturing moments and creating memories that last a lifetime.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, three key things have been most impactful in my journey: adaptability, connection, and storytelling.
Adaptability: Photography and creative work are always evolving, and being open to learning and pivoting when needed has been essential. Whether it’s trying new editing techniques or shifting focus to better serve my clients, adaptability has helped me grow. My advice? Stay curious. Take courses, experiment, and embrace change as it’s how you’ll find your unique style.
Connection: Building authentic connections with clients is everything. People want to feel seen and comfortable, especially in front of the camera. For me, that’s where the magic happens. If you’re starting out, focus on relationship-building. Learn how to make your clients feel at ease, listen to their stories, and let that guide your work.
Storytelling: At the core of The715 is the desire to tell real, emotional stories through images. Capturing moments that reflect who people truly are is what makes the work meaningful. My advice? Pay attention to the details and trust your instincts. Let go of perfection and focus on creating something that feels real and honest.

Most of all, remember that your journey is yours. There’s no right or wrong way, just keep going, stay true to your vision, and don’t be afraid to evolve along the way.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Yes! I’m always open to collaborating with other creatives and businesses who align with the heart of The715. I love working with fellow photographers, event planners, stylists, and brands who value authentic storytelling and connection. Whether it’s a styled shoot, a creative project, or partnering to enhance a client’s experience, I’m all about creating something meaningful together.

I’m also expanding into wedding photography and looking to connect with vendors and other professionals in that space like florists, videographers, makeup artists, and venues who are just as passionate about creating unforgettable moments.

If you’re interested in collaborating, feel free to reach out! You can connect with me through my website the715.net, social media @The715photographer, or send me an email directly at [email protected], I’d love to hear your ideas and see what we can create together!
