Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jessica Ross. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Jessica, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Confidence, for me, was born out of curiosity. I learned early on that when I needed a new perspective or wanted to activate a part of myself I hadn’t met yet, I had to try something new. That “something” was improv.
As a child, improv became my safe space—a creative way to direct attention, manage inner emotions, and make sense of life through play. Over time, I realized that what started as survival had become my foundation. Improv isn’t just what I do—it’s who I am. And honestly, I believe it’s everyone’s superpower. We’re all Improv Specialists because every day we wake up and choose who we’ll be without a script. We live in real time, responding to what’s in front of us, trusting that our next move will lead us somewhere good.
In improv, we have a sacred phrase: “Yes, and.” It’s how we move the scene forward—with faith, flow, and curiosity. I built my philosophy of confidence around that. Yes, and isn’t just for the stage; it’s an attitude for life. It reminds us that where our feet are right now is where our power is.
That’s why I teach Improv is Life—my weekly class every Thursday night (7–8:30 PM) and monthly in-person sessions at McPhail Studios in Peachtree Corners. It’s a space where people practice trusting their choices, building confidence, and living fully in the present. When you learn to trust your “yes,” you stop waiting for permission—and that’s when life really starts to feel so JAMGOOD.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
At the heart of everything I do is my belief that we are divine beings with God inside of us—and when we remember that truth, life becomes rich with meaning. My faith is the foundation of my work and the message behind my brand: life isn’t meant to be endured; it’s meant to be enjoyed. When you live from the awareness of your divine nature, you start to see that joy, peace, and purpose are already available right where you are.
I’m Jessica A. Ross, also known as Mrs. JAMGOOD—a Mindset Coach, Creative Director, Motivational Speaker, and the Founder of JAMGOODLIVING LLC, a faith-based lifestyle and leadership brand that helps people reconnect to their joy, confidence, and clarity by deepening their relationship with self and Spirit. With a Bachelor of Science in Theatre, Performance Studies, Dance, Communication, and Marketing from Kennesaw State University and over a decade of experience in creative direction, leadership, and production, I’ve learned that transformation happens when faith meets practice—when you say yes to who God called you to be and learn to live from that place.
I get to teach that through transformational experiences like The Speaker’s Gym, where communicators strengthen their voice and message through practice and feedback; The Visibility Accelerator, which helps leaders organize their brilliance, find rhythm, and communicate their stories with confidence; and C.O.M.F.Y. on Camera—The Divine Visibility Experience, an immersive journey that teaches clients to express their truth with peace and precision, on camera and in life. At the core of everything is The Mindset Coaching Plan, a faith-based approach that helps clients reprogram limiting beliefs, build self-trust, and realign with divine order.
Beyond coaching, I also host live JAMGOOD events, Happiness Activations, and creative workshops that blend movement, improv, and reflection to help people reconnect to their voice and to community. And through my shows—Bright Lights Live with Jessica A. Ross and JAMGOOD NEWS—I get to share stories of joy, resilience, and divine creativity, reminding audiences that greatness already lives within them.
Every space I create, from a one-on-one session to a studio taping, has the same heartbeat: to remind people that God is within, joy is available now, and life is meant to feel so JAMGOOD. Whether I’m on stage, online, or in the studio, my goal is always the same: to facilitate experiences that call attention to the fact that joy, clarity, and confidence aren’t things to chase — they’re already within you.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, the three most impactful qualities that shaped my journey were faith, adaptability, and perspective.
Faith has always been my compass. It’s what reminds me that God is not only with me, but within me. Every challenge, delay, or redirection in my life has strengthened that truth. When I stopped striving and started trusting, everything began to align. My advice for anyone starting out is this: don’t just work on your craft — work on your connection. When your spiritual foundation is solid, everything you build stands stronger.
Adaptability came alive through improv. I learned to flow with what’s in front of me — to listen, to pivot, and to believe that every scene in life serves a purpose. That’s the essence of the “yes, and” philosophy I teach inside The Speaker’s Gym and Improv is Life. When you stop fighting the moment and instead add your “and” to it, you find freedom, creativity, and growth.
And then there’s perspective — the art of seeing the silver lining. It’s how I learned to love myself through every season. The present moment really is a present. When we choose to see it as a gift, even our hardest experiences become teachers. Shifting your perspective is one of the most powerful forms of self-love because it invites grace into the story. That’s a practice I weave through everything at JAMGOODLIVING, from my Mindset Coaching Plan to my on-camera programs, because once your mind changes, your whole life does too.
So, my advice? Ground yourself in faith, stay open to flow, and protect your perspective. Those three will keep you anchored in joy, no matter what life looks like — because life, even in the middle of change, is still so JAMGOOD.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
One of the books that changed my entire perspective on life is The Game of Life and How to Play It by Florence Scovel Shinn. I revisit it at least twice a year, and it never stops revealing new truths. This year actually marks its 100th anniversary — a full century of wisdom still transforming lives.
What this book opened up for me is the understanding that life is an inside-out experience. Whatever we believe, assume, and hold true within ourselves eventually takes form in our external world. That means our words, our thoughts, and our inner atmosphere are constantly shaping the reality we live in. It reminded me that Christ lives within us, and that every word we speak is creative — it’s a brushstroke in the painting of our own life story.
That revelation inspired much of how I now teach and express through improv, because improv mirrors that same truth. What you say becomes the world you live in. Each moment is an opportunity to “yes, and” your way forward — to add faith, imagination, and joy to the scene you’re in. For me, improv became a living, joyful way to practice the spiritual principles Florence wrote about.
The Game of Life also inspired the idea of “gamifying” life — using play, curiosity, and perspective-shifting to draw closer to yourself and to God. It’s about learning to move through challenges with grace, to play your hand with faith, and to remember that every moment is both a test and a teacher.
I actually broke down my reflections on this book in my episode of the podcast, Cover 2 Cover with Jarryn M. Bingham, where I dive into how its timeless principles still apply today. I will make sure I include the link so you all can check out that amazing episode, I had a blast speaking about what I’ve learned and what I’ve gained from reading that book.
I also dive deeper into reflections like these on my Substack newsletter, JAMGOODLIVING Digital Digest, where I share mindset shifts, self-reflection questions, and updates from my programs and shows. For those who love conversation-style learning, I host “Self Reflection Conversations,” a podcast series that unpacks the spiritual and emotional lessons behind growth, faith, and perspective-shifting through asking and answering questions.
Remember life isn’t random — it’s responsive. And once you realize that you’re co-creating with God, the game starts to feel a lot more like JAMGOODLIVING.
