Meet Jessica Savano

We recently connected with Jessica Savano and have shared our conversation below.

Jessica, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I’d say I truly discovered my purpose through travel. I know that might be hard for some to grasp, but for me, travel isn’t just about taking a one-week vacation each year—it’s a lifestyle. When you step outside your comfort zone, especially when you’re traveling alone, and immerse yourself in different cultures and perspectives, something shifts inside you. It’s hard to put into words, but it’s profound. As I began sharing my travel experiences on YouTube and saw my audience grow, I started meeting people in various countries who thanked me for inspiring them to step out of their own comfort zones and explore the world. That’s when it really hit me—travel is my purpose. It allows me to learn incredible life lessons and inspire others to do the same.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Having worked in the entertainment industry in Hollywood, doing acting, modeling, and more, I’ve always had a passion for travel. Even as a child, I was fascinated with the globe, often wondering what life was like in different corners of the world. As I started traveling more extensively, a friend suggested I start vlogging, so I began creating YouTube travel content. My channel grew to almost 200k subscribers, which still amazes me—I sometimes can’t believe that many people watch me and find me that interesting lol.

But it’s not as glamorous as it might seem. I travel solo, produce, shoot, and edit all my own content. Honestly, I’d probably have over a million subscribers by now if I didn’t procrastinate and actually edited and posted more regularly, but I’m a Sagittarius 🙂

I’m currently revamping my channel and have hired a small team to help with growth and editing. I just returned from traveling through 8 different countries, capturing a ton of footage, and we’re working on putting it all together. My goal is to be more consistent in connecting with my viewers, but it’s crucial for me to keep things authentic. You see a lot of big YouTubers who are clearly promoting brands or trying to sell something—I don’t want to be like that.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I’d say having an acting background has been a huge plus for me. Talking to a camera can be awkward, and it’s easy to be overly critical of ourselves. Acting teaches you to simply be yourself, and I apply a lot of the skills I’ve learned from studying acting in my work.

Another important skill is being adventurous. Believe it or not, I consider that a skill because it involves a deep sense of trust in the universe. Once you experience the world the way I have, you realize there are higher states of mind that transform you. Even in the most challenging moments, visiting a particular country can lead to experiences so beautiful they bring you to tears, or a simple interaction with a local can touch you profoundly.

Communication is also big for me—it’s opened so many doors. I’m not afraid to ask for things or express how I feel, and that’s a skill I’ve definitely honed over the years. Effective communication can change your life in countless ways. Life is short, so don’t be afraid to speak your mind and go after what you want!

My advice is to find three things that make you stand out, which you can apply to whatever creative journey you’re looking to begin. Just go for it. Remember that we’re all constantly learning and growing, so be easy on yourself. Do things at your own pace and stay in the flow.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

I used to be a slave to the algorithm, constantly trying to post so that the platforms would push my content more. It became overwhelming, and honestly, it just didn’t feel good. I felt pressured, exhausted, and it drained the joy out of what I love doing. But when I took a hiatus and decided to do things on my own terms—even if that meant posting only one video a month instead of 3-4—a shift happened. It felt like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders.

Travel and creative burnout are very real, and they can break you down like nothing else. I’m a big believer in self-care, so I make sure to get massages frequently and treat myself to a nice blowout every now and then. When we look good, we feel good, and that openness to creativity flows naturally. Taking breaks is essential for a healthy creative mind. If people truly love your content, they’ll understand and eagerly await your next video or whatever you’re presenting.
