Meet Jessica Vicars

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jessica Vicars a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Jessica, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

I developed my work ethic at an early age, learning from my family and from swimming. My parents always taught us to set very high goals and work hard to achieve them. We learned that it takes hard work, dedication, and perseverance to achieve goals and dreams.

Each swim season, we would set new goals, higher than the last year. We went to swim practice just about every day and learned how working hard in the pool allowed us to achieve those goals and get faster each season. I applied everything I learned to my career and my business. I always set high goals and work hard to achieve them – and inspire those around me to do the same.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am the Owner at Confetti Jar. Confetti Jar is Atlanta’s new platform for parents to find and book everything for parties for kids! I started Confetti Jar because so many parents (myself included!) spend weeks and months planning parties for their kids. They ask around in social media groups for ideas, check with friends, bounce to a ton of different websites, and make dozens of calls. It ends up being a super time consuming and often frustrating experience. So frustrating that some parents give up all together! But parents truly want to celebrate their kids, and those little moments are so special for children.

We are making those special moments easier and more fun for parents by helping them plan birthday parties and events in a way that is much less time consuming and less frustrating. Through Confetti Jar, parents can find and book everything they need for parties for kids. They can find all of the best party venues around Atlanta, fun and unique entertainment, party rentals, décor, bakeries and more – all in one place.

I love that we are making a difference for families by making something so special, so much easier to plan and manage.

We also are helping local businesses, by offering an easy to use, cost-effective marketing solution. There are so many incredible local businesses around Atlanta creating awesome experience for kids – and I love being able to use my marketing experience to help them grow and thrive.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

My deep marketing expertise is definitely a critical component in my ability to execute and bring this brand to life. For me, this is the foundation of my career and my fundamental area of expertise.

I believe marketing skills or even knowledge of how marketing works and how marketing can – and should – deliver ROI is critical to the success of any business leader. For anyone thinking of starting their own business – take some basic marketing courses, tune into podcasts, and subscribe to emails from marketing experts in your industry.

Next, resilience is so important for business leaders. Starting a new business is tough – and business leaders face new challenges every single day. Anticipate that challenges will come, find a solution, and move on toward achieving your goals and dreams.

Third, is a true passion and drive to succeed. As an entrepreneur, it is so important to be passionate and excited about the work you are doing, the problem you’re solving, and the vision and dream you are building toward. I also aim to surround myself with people that are equally as passionate and enthusiastic – the energy is so contagious and continues to fuel my own growth, passion, and work!

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Absolutely! I am always looking for local Atlanta businesses for partnerships and collaborations. We have two primary target audiences we work with as customers; local Atlanta area parents and local kids’ party and event services businesses. We often collaborate with other businesses that focus on similar target audiences. We love to create new, fun, and unique content for our blog and social media pages. We are always looking for local businesses, bloggers, influencers, and journalists for content collaborations. If you are interested in working on a fun collaboration focused in the kids’ events space, send us an email at [email protected]
