We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jessica Wilson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Finding my purpose wasn’t easy and I still think I have more to discover. Throughout my life, health and wellness have played a huge part. I have always been interested in healthy foods, how to make unhealthy things healthy, how to help others change their eating patterns and heal my body through foods. It wasn’t until a few years ago that it all clicked for me. “Why am I here?” “What am I here to do? I felt as if I was constantly asking myself these questions.
Right before the pandemic began, I started a meal prep company as a side business. It was a passion project. I wanted to provide healthy, whole-food, plant-based meals for people who wanted them. My husband and I eat this way and we can’t ever find anyone who cooks like this so I figured there must be more people like us! 3 weeks in, the pandemic hit and I thought “Oh, well! It wasn’t meant to be.” Boy was I wrong!! This catapulted my little meal prep biz full speed! I was making upwards of 400 meals in one weekend by myself!! It was insane! It became so crazy I had to quit my full time job as an interior designer.
Once I was all in, I started to realize just how many people were craving healthy foods! And for the last 4.5 years I have brought thousands of meals to the DFW area!!!
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m an Integrative Health Coach and a Whole Food Plant-Based/Vegan Personal Chef. I help adults learn how to use food as medicine to heal disease, disorder, and dysfunction in their bodies. I love educating others on what foods can heal and harm them. The fun part is, everybody is different and I’m able to customize a program that best suits my clients’ goals and palate so it never gets old! Using food to heal is the oldest form of medicine and I love digging into the history of it. The earth provides us with so many incredible nutrients! We just need to tap into that resource and I’m here to help. I offer a custom 12-week program with the opportunity to extend the program if my client needs more guidance.
I also offer one-on-one classes, or group cooking classes, and retreat catering. Being in service to others has always been a passion of mine!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Courage, dedication, and heart. Courage to start new things, even when you are the only one who does it. Dedication to keep going when it gets tough, because it will get tough. Heart because nothing will truly be successful if your heart is not in it. If you aren’t doing it for the right reasons, it will not resonate with purpose or meaning. Sure, you may become very successful doing something without heart but ultimately you will never feel happy or good about what you’re doing.
Being a pioneer is hard. Doing things people don’t understand or don’t think matter isn’t for the faint of heart. But I can promise that if you can withstand the storms you are given you can and will come out on top!

I am looking to collaborate with doctors, nutritionists, and professional healers. My ultimate goal is to be the go-between the doctor and the patient. When a patient is diagnosed with an illness and is left wondering “what next?”, I want to be the one who is referred to help them connect the dots and to guide them to use food as an integral part of their wellness.
