We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jesus Eduardo Rodriguez Millan. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jesus Eduardo below.
Hi Jesus Eduardo, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
When talking about work ethic, the first thing that comes my mind is the phrase “doing things right.” I’ve always been convinced that ethics is based on two precepts. The first is the moral aspect of whether something is good or not so good, and the second is discipline, or the commitment to doing it. Both concepts merge in a symbiotic relationship, which in turn are intertwined with the fundamental values and principles that govern me as a person. From this entire process emerges my work ethic, based on the values of honesty, responsibility, fairness, professionalism, and dedication, with the firm purpose of doing things right in order to build a better society. Within my life philosophy, I find the use of Kaisen to achieve continuous improvement in every aspect of my life, and this undoubtedly implies giving my best to do things well.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I was born in Caracas, Venezuela. I spent my childhood in my hometown, where I completed all my studies and lived with my parents and sister, who are wonderful people. My parents instilled in me essential values such as love, justice, honesty, responsibility, and, above all, doing things right. Since childhood, I felt a special inclination toward the field of justice, and that led me to graduate as a lawyer at 21 years of age. I began my working life at 18 years old, working in the justice system as a court clerk. This gave me my first exposure to a reality that was unfamiliar to me, but which led me to learn and develop a level of awareness that allowed me to become the professional I am today. Throughout my academic training, I have earned multiple degrees, including Specialist in Criminal Law, Specialist in Teaching, Specialist in Criminology, Master’s in Criminology, and finally, a Doctorate in Management Sciences. I have taken multiple courses in personal and professional development. For five years, I was a Legal Consultant for a state government agency in the legal area, implementing tools that promoted business development and optimization. I also served as a First Instance Criminal Judge for ten years. I have been living in the State of Florida, United States for 4 years. For the last six years of my career, I have dedicated myself to the management field, working as a Business Consultant, focused on providing various small and medium-sized businesses with the necessary tools for their creation, development, and sustainability over time. I emphasize the use of Kaisen and Lean as essential tools to continuously improve processes, reduce waste, and optimize production. This results in operational optimization, enabling them to achieve their goals and objectives efficiently and effectively, generating a positive economic impact on society. Likewise, I firmly believe in the need for digital transformation in companies without neglecting the human factor, which, in my opinion, is the essential element of success for any endeavor, since the source of creation lies within us. Personally, I feel great satisfaction in giving my best and being able to serve the community.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Without a doubt, the first skill or ability that has been important in my personal development has been self-knowledge. Knowing myself has connected me with who I am, what I like, and what I want to do with my life. It has been one of the greatest battles I have ever fought, as doubts and uncertainties have appeared and threatened to sabotage me. However, staying calm, having that internal conversation with myself, and trusting what I feel have been the answer to moving forward doing what I am passionate about. I believe all human beings need to know themselves to know what they truly want in this life. Another quality that is undeniably part of my life is empathy. That ability that allows us to understand and relate to others for effective communication and healthy relationships. Listening and being able to contemplate another person’s different position fills us with learning and peace of mind, in addition to giving us another perspective that we may not see due to our limitations, resulting in a blessing in learning new things.
I have understood that planning is vital to achieving what I want, that we must set a date for what I want to do. That success comes when there’s passion, consistency, and organization. That I have to take risks even when I’m afraid, and that I have to trust and believe in myself.
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
The greatest gift my parents have given me has been life. They have given me unconditional love without anything in return. They have been present from my first smiles, tears, and steps. My life has been filled with their teachings, the most present of which is “doing things right.” They taught me the value and respect for God and people, the importance of honesty, loyalty, justice, and transparency. My mother—a wonderful woman—with her characteristic smile on her face left an indelible lesson: “Always look on the bright side of life,” words whose meaning I have come to understand over the years. No matter what happens, there is always something good in every situation in life, which perhaps we don’t see at the moment, but which will reveal itself to us in time. My father—my childhood superhero—with his temperance instilled that “a man’s word is the most valuable thing,” implying that a man of honor keeps his word without hesitation or excuses. I am grateful to the Higher Power for my parents.
