Meet Jesùs Nùñez

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jesùs Nùñez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Jesùs, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
“My work ethic comes from my family. I was born into a poor family, where work was necessary for survival. Discipline in work was essential, and the results of work were necessary for our subsistence. This way of life educates you to have an ethic based on hard work and honesty. You can’t deceive anyone, nor can you deceive yourself when work is necessary for survival.”

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My name is Jesus Nunez, and I was born in Madrid 48 years ago. I have always had an artistic soul and have worked on many projects in various professions, but for most of my life, I have worked as a chef. I have owned several restaurants in Spain and New York City. Two years ago, I decided to make a change in my professional life and embark on a new project: J. Nunez Gallery in Millburn, New Jersey. My gallery specializes in abstract, modern, and contemporary art, fights against the gender gap in the art industry, and primarily represents female artists, with most of them being local. The gallery has a charity collection called “Love Always” because love is always the answer, and art can help people. One of the things I like the most is that it is a constantly evolving and moving gallery, where there is always a new idea to try and experiment with new creative concepts. I invite you to discover it.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Well, there are many areas that I have developed and improved with age and experience. Success is composed of a variety of qualities, skills, and areas of knowledge, but if I had to summarize them into just three, they would probably be:

Discipline: It’s important to be disciplined every day, not just some days. Discipline to become better, discipline to learn, discipline to strive every day.
Respect: Respect for oneself, respect for others, and respect for your business or job, whatever it may be.
Kindness: It costs nothing to be kind to everyone, the rich and the poor, the friendly and the unfriendly. Kindness opens doors and makes people speak well of you and reciprocate.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
My parents sacrificed and fought to give me a better life, so that I could be their version 2.0 and have access to more opportunities than they had. As a father, I do the same for my children, so they can be version 3.0.
