Meet Jesy

We recently connected with Jesy and have shared our conversation below.

Jesy, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

I think mostly from my parents, especially my mom. She’s an entrepreneur herself. She owns a marketing business next to her husband. And I see resilience every day I see her with her own business; regardless of the circumstances, she’s constantly pushing forward.

I saw this documentary called “Halftime” by Jenifer Lopez. In the documentary, she said that no, the word N-O, is no in answer. It means “new opportunity.” So, ever since, it became my motto. Every time I get a no, I know that it’s a new opportunity and I need to keep moving forward. Sometimes, of course, I cry, and I get frustrated because nobody likes to get rejected. Nobody likes to get no as an answer. But I know that each no is like a brick, a brick that I’m using to build a giant wall. That big wall is the big yes.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m Jesy, I am a content creator and flower/balloon artist located in Orange, California. I don’t only elaborate the designs and decorations. The most important aspect of my business is teaching. My mission is to empower women of the world to monetize their passion so they can achieve financial freedom and a happier life. That is exactly the most exciting part about my job. I get to know new stories all the time about strangers that now I call friends. I love seeing the impact of my classes, and how my community of students increases their confidence and skills and goes after their goals.

My workshops are not only about the techniques; I offer a set of skills: Marketing, mindset, emotional intelligence, logistics, and social media, among others. Every other week I teach through my online membership, but I also have a wide variety of prerecorded classes available on my website. To those looking for live events, the next one will be on June the 27th-28th.

Lastly, my most recent project: My new line of boxes. To those trying to find round luxurious vases for flower and balloon arrangements, we produce and sell them. You can find them on my website as well.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

There are three main things that I would prioritize if I were to start today: my mindset, marketing/sales, and preparation.

First, your mindset will help you to find opportunities even in a desert. Your mindset is going to see scarcity. If you want to see scarcity, it’s going to see abundance. If you want to see abundance. This business is not easy. You’re going to have a lot of changes, challenges, and obstacles. Only your mindset is going to set you up for success. Number two: Marketing and sales. It’s not about who is most talented, but who can market themselves the best. Myself, I’ve been able to build my career thanks to social media. That is my resource to connect to the world. The last one is preparation. And I am not only talking about the techniques to design your products but also business preparation. You need to become the best at learning. Besides, it is always nice to have guidance from somebody else who has already gone through the path you are going through. It’s going to save you time, and money.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

I think my parents to this day, still do a lot of impactful things for me. But if I can go back to when I was a kid, it was getting home from school and showing my parents my artwork. They will do nothing but praise it and say it is the most amazing thing they ever looked at. They always validated my art. They always validated my work, although it was not really good either. But that helped me to believe that I was good at it. And I think as a kid, you always want approval from your parents, or at least from whoever represents an important figure in your life. Believe it or not, my career started there. Believing that I can do great things, believing that I’m actually capable of doing that.

Nowadays, I’ve been able to have a mom who talks business to me. And what I like about her is that instead of telling me stories of Cinderella or Disney princesses, the stories that she tells me are about Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk… about people who are ordinary, people just like me, who worked hard, had a goal and worked for it, and look where they are right now. They are revolutionizing the world. These stories empower me.
