Meet Jett Pennington

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jett Pennington. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Jett, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I think for a long time, I had this need to prove to others that I could do everything they doubted I could do. I went through so much hardship in my adolescence, I am the ultimate late bloomer. From this, I felt that need of recognition. As I get older now, (almost to 40’s woahh) I really want to prove it to myself. I want to see what I am capable of. I am competitive with myself. Resilience comes from inner strength. It’s something you have to cultivate, no matter how much opposition you face. We all have it in us.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My name is Jett, my brand is Wicked Glamour. I am rebuilding after I got my accounts hacked. Lost my accounts at nearly 11k followers. I am a Theatrical Hair/makeup Artist. Creative Director. Storyteller, I do costumery and set design. And, I am a yoga practitioner and energy worker.

You wouldn’t think this stuff has anything to do with each other, but truly my mission is to make the world a better place. With art, to make it more beautiful. To uplift and transform people in a creative way. Also to heal and love as many people as I can.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I think my best quality is my empathy for others. My ability to read energy and help people feel seen and understood. The ability to connect with people.

I think another important quality is drive. You really have to commit to the things you want in your life. Make your own luck.

Lastly, be teachable. Be humble. Never be afraid to ask questions and learn or admit you didn’t know as much as you thought. You’re never an expert, life is a continued expansion of learning.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
My biggest area of growth has been to let go of Ego. To detach from things that do not serve you. Not to do things to get validation from others, but to do the things you love because you love them. To build your skill because you want too, not because you are trying to prove you are talented to anyone else. Just to simply enjoy where you are at, presently and accept it.
