We were lucky to catch up with Jhazmine K. Smith recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jhazmine K., we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My resilience is cultivated from God, ambition, determination and self-confidence. I have come to realize that owning a business requires all of these things and more. If you want to own a business, you must be prepared for trial and error— to defeat trial and error, comes resilience. Building resilience is a daunting task— However, when you have realized the integrity and courage you had to build it, you realize how stout you actually are!

Whip Lash, LLC has now moved to Charlotte, NC! We have previously serviced Raleigh and Wilmington, NC— and the progression in each city has consistently shown to be prime. Here in Charlotte, we are expecting the growth to surpass what we have previously seen regarding clientele!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
As Whip Lash, LLC has moved twice in its time of existence, the qualities and skills that we have had to obtain were ability to promote, stellar customer service and open-mindedness in craft. As I have become a business owner for the past two years, I have come to the realization that lashing is an evolving craft. There will always be a new trend/look/service for this business. Which is why I have had to master the art of discovery.
What is the most difficult challenge in owning a business?
Right now, we are restarting our clientele in a new city. There are plenty of familiar faces in this city— Nevertheless, the promotion of the business must still be fulfilled. Building clientele has always been single-handedly one of the most difficult components to owning a serving business, but it can be done. It has been done.
