We were lucky to catch up with Jhonathan Rodriguez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jhonathan, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I found my purpose in high school, becoming a parent during senior year, and immersing myselg in the teachings of “The Four Agreements” and “The Alchemist”, I embarked on a transformative journey of self-discovery. Through this process, I learned the importance of being honest, understanding, and maintaining a positive outlook on life. In this process of self discovery, I also realized the power of creativity in shaping my purpose as a genuine human. Expressing myself through various creative outlets, such as photography, videography, or writing. Through creativity, I discovered the ability to communicate my values, beliefs, and positivity in unique and compelling ways.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
As a creative involved in photography, videography, and writing, you have the opportunity to express yourself and share your unique perspective with the world. Your creative endeavors allow you to capture moments, emotions, and stories, giving others a glimpse into your experiences and the way you perceive the world. My brand, Basik, embodies the idea simplicity and authenticity. The motto “Basik, But Different”. emphasizes that while you may be just another human being in this vast world, you possess a distinct individuality that sets you apart. It celebrates the beauty of being true to yourself and embracing your uniqueness.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Having an open mind was impactful in my creative journey because it allowed me to embrace new ideas, perspectives, and experiences, fostering creativity and innovation. Consistency played a crucial role by enabling me to develop a routine of practicing my craft, leading to continuous improvement over time. Commitment ensured that I stayed dedicated to my creative pursuits, even during challenging moments, which ultimately helped me grow and achieve my goals. For those in the early stages of their creative journey, my advice is to practice, keep doing things, learn, study, and watching is essential. These activities allow individuals to gain knowledge, skills, and inspiration. Finding mentors and surrounding oneself with like minded individuals can provide valuable guidance, support, and encouragement. Additionally, pushing oneself beyond comfort zones helps in exploring new possibilities and unleashing untapped potential.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am seeking for partners and collaborators for creative projects! I am simply looking for like minded individuals who are open minded and willing to share ideas to have successful collaborations. I want to connect with people who value teamwork and are eager to work together towards a common goal to enhance the creative process.
