Jhunry, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

I get my work ethic from my parents, who taught me the value of hard work and perseverance. I’m lucky to have a strong support system from my husband, family and friends, which has been a big help in pursuing my passion as an event decorator. Their encouragement keeps me motivated to do my best in every design I create. Having clear ambitions and goals also pushes me to continuously improve my skills and ensure my clients are satisfied. My dedication to excellence not only helps me grow but also allows me to attract more clients in the future.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am an event designer specializing in all types of events, from gender reveals to weddings. I create beautiful flower arrangements and balloon setups to bring any celebration to life.

Back in college, I studied Hotel and Restaurant Management, and I have always had a passion for the events and hospitality industry. After moving to the USA, I made many friends and developed a love for hosting parties. I would always go the extra mile by setting up tables and adding decorations using whatever resources I had or creating DIY pieces.

That passion eventually led me to start my own business. It all began after planning my own wedding, and soon, friends started asking me to design balloon backdrops for their kids’ birthdays. I’m fortunate to have my husband and friends supporting me every step of the way.

Events by Jhunry is a highly affordable and reliable event decorating service. I take great pride in my work and strive to ensure that every client is satisfied with the service I provide. My goal is to deliver beautiful, well-crafted designs at reasonable prices, and I’m grateful that my clients are always happy with the results.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

To be a successful event designer or decorator, you need a combination of creativity, organization, and strong communication skills.

1. Creativity & Artistic Vision

A strong eye for design, color coordination, and aesthetics is essential for creating visually stunning setups. Attention to detail is equally important, as small elements such as table settings, floral arrangements, and lighting can make a significant difference in the overall ambiance of an event.

2. Organization & Time Management

Events come with strict deadlines, so it’s crucial to manage time efficiently and ensure that everything is set up on schedule. Problem-solving skills are also vital in this field. Things don’t always go as planned, so you must be able to think quickly, adapt to unexpected challenges, and still deliver the best results within a given timeframe.

3. Strong Communication & Budget Management

Understanding a client’s vision, effectively communicating ideas, and working well with vendors and team members are essential skills. Additionally, budget management plays a key role—being able to work within a client’s budget while still delivering high-quality designs is a valuable skill that sets a great event designer apart.

My advice is to develop physical and mental stamina. Setting up events requires long hours of standing, lifting, and arranging decorations, as well as extensive planning and sourcing high-quality materials. Having both physical endurance and mental resilience is essential for handling the demanding nature of the job.

Another crucial factor is passion and dedication. Passion fuels creativity, while dedication ensures that every event is executed flawlessly. Loving what you do and going above and beyond for clients will set you apart in the industry. A truly passionate event designer strives to create unforgettable experiences and leaves a lasting impression on clients.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

I would say that the person who has been most helpful in overcoming challenges and developing the essential skills for my success is myself. While I’ve had support along the way, it was my own determination, hard work and willingness to learn that helped me grow. I constantly push myself to improve, adapt to challenges and refine my skills to become better at what I do. My passion and dedication have driven me to keep going, even when things got tough, and that’s what has shaped me into the successful event designer I am today.
