We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jilanne Pruitt a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jilanne, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Doing extensive and still doing extensive therapy and inner work. Staying grateful for the things I have helps me remain confident. Accomplishing goals makes me feel confident. Accepting myself and mistakes I made in the past is a big confident booster. Also the will to want to be a better person helps my self esteem. Slowing down and taking my time. Developing my confidence is not about making what’s on the outside better. It’s about deep love and nourishing myself and holding myself accountable for my growth.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a new author of children’s reading and activity books. I am the founder and CEO of Deans Learning Lessons based on my experience with educating my son during Covid and getting him ready for school. We are predicted for a soft launch in July! The books are reading and phonics and beginner math readiness starting at the age 3-10.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Patience, using my imagination and networking. Honorable mention prayer. I would always keep in mind that being a student to your craft and always being teachable is a great service to yourself. Asking a lot of questions, having knowledge of your market will help you be confident when you start to promote your product. Finding a mentor or business coach is beneficial also.
What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
Focusing on my vision. Constantly reminding myself of my values and things I want out of life. With focusing on my vision it has helped me become more disciplined and consistent working on the things I want to improve. Knowing it’s all up to create my reality.
