Meet Jillian Batchelor

We were lucky to catch up with Jillian Batchelor recently and have shared our conversation below.

Jillian, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

Resilience is not something I was born with; it was forged in the fires of my upbringing. Raised in a one-parent household with little to no financial stability, I learned early on that survival required strength, adaptability, and an unwavering determination. My mother, though burdened by circumstances, taught me the power of hard work and persistence. Even when times got extremely rough and health insurance was a luxury we couldn’t afford, she showed me that no obstacle is insurmountable when you refuse to give up.

Growing up, I didn’t have the privileges others took for granted. I didn’t know what it felt like to have a safety net or the comfort of financial security. But in the absence of these things, I found something far greater: grit. I learned to embrace the struggle and find opportunity in every challenge. When life pushed me down, I got back up with a fire in my heart and the belief that I could create the life I envisioned, no matter how far out of reach it seemed. I’m being a widow at a very young age to losing my first baby I knew I could still forge a beautiful life.

Resilience came from understanding that I couldn’t change where I started, but I could change where I was going. I worked tirelessly, often sacrificing sleep and comfort to pursue my goals. I faced setbacks—some devastating—but each time, I reminded myself that my circumstances didn’t define me. It was my response to those circumstances that shaped my future.

Today, as a multi-millionaire who has overcome countless obstacles, I look back and see that resilience is a muscle built through struggle. It is the strength to keep going when everything around you says stop. It is the refusal to let adversity dictate your destiny.

I am proud of my journey, not because it was easy, but because it wasn’t. I turned my challenges into stepping stones, my pain into power, and my dreams into reality. My resilience didn’t just help me survive; it helped me thrive. And for that, I am endlessly grateful.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back the most qualities I was able to obtain in my life were determination, I’ve always been determined to have a better life. Gratitude.- I wake up every single day grateful for what I have, therefore not missing out on the things that I may not have.
And the ability to get kicked in the teeth and still get up every single day and start again

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

In the past 12 months I have completely reshaped my body and physique. By accomplishing such a physically challenging endeavor, I learned true strength with mind & body. Physical fitness is more than just a way to stay healthy—it’s a discipline that trains your mind as much as your body. Committing to your physical fitness builds determination, focus, and resilience, qualities that carry over into every aspect of life. Pushing through challenging workouts teaches you to overcome discomfort, set goals, and stay consistent, even when motivation wanes.

When you prioritize your fitness, you strengthen your ability to tackle obstacles, manage stress, and maintain a positive mindset. The discipline you develop in the gym or on the track translates to your personal and professional life, helping you stay focused and fit for success in all areas. Fitness becomes a metaphor: the harder you work, the stronger you become—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally as well.
