Meet Jillian Bone

We were lucky to catch up with Jillian Bone recently and have shared our conversation below.

Jillian, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I became a Travel Agent specializing in Disney because I travel to the parks so frequently and realized a lot of people need help and have questions while traveling. If they had a travel agent helping then their trip would have been a lot better and less stressful. I find my purpose from my clients. It is up to me to make payments, schedule dining reservations, make suer they have ground transportation and so much more. If clients hire me to do a job for them then I am all in. I put 100% into their vacations as if it was my own vacation.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Hello! My name is Jillian Bone!

I am so beyond excited to be living my dream as a Disney travel agent. I currently live in the East Texas with my husband and two boys.

I absolutely love all things Disney from the parks to the movies to the Disney on Ice productions. Disney brings so much magic and fun to my life and allows me to be a kid again. My most favorite memory of Disney is going to the parks for the first time on my fifth birthday. My whole family went including my best friend and her family. I made my dad ride It’s a Small World over and over again until he could just hear that song repeating in his head. I am now 30 years old and we still laugh about those moments we shared together in the parks, and that is what it is all about. When my husband and I got engaged in 2014, all I was thinking about was when I could go to Disney and get my happily ever after button, and it happened for me in 2015.

Now that I have children of my own I absolutely love seeing Disney through his eyes. He is obsessed with all the same movies I grew up watching like Toy Story, Mulan, Monster Inc., and even Pocahontas. When my son turned three in 2021 my husband and I knew without a doubt that we would be at Disney for that magical moment and celebration. I will always remember that look in his eyes seeing that castle in person for the first time, getting him that birthday and first visit button, and the first Mickey waffle we shared at Sleepy Hollow at Magic Kingdom. Watching Enchantment for the first time together as a family of three gave me absolute goosebumps and tears to my eyes. That is Disney and that is the joy and love that every single family should feel walking into the parks.

I have had the pleasure of enjoying Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, the Very Merry Christmas Party (twice), the Flower and Garden Festival (multiple times), and the Food and Wine Fest. I have seen Disney before and after a pandemic and hoped everyday that when the park was closed that today would be the day it would open back up! I have used the fast pass system and the Genie + system and absolutely love it!

I hope that I can be the best travel agent for you and your family, because every family in Texas and the entire country deserves the most magical vacation without the stress of planning and making all of your own reservations. Walt Disney said, “You can design and create, and build the most wonderful place in the world. But it takes people to make the dream a reality.” Let me make that a reality for you! I look forward to planning your vacations and meeting all of you and making MAGIC happen!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The top three qualities and skills a travel agent needs is:
1. People Skills
2. The ability to handle stress
3. To continue to learn and grow

It is important to know your clients and their needs and know how to work with them. It is also important to keep up with the specialized training that is put in front of you so you can keep your clients adequately informed.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

Within the company I work for, MickeyTravels, there are over 300 Travel Agents and the owners. The owners first and foremost have been the most valuable and impactful people in my development. They hire the best of the best and expect us to be our best for our clients. I appreciate them hiring me everyday and expecting so much from me. We also have smaller teams and team leaders. My team leader is always our biggest cheerleader. Even though she has her own clients she takes time out of her day to make sure her teammates are succeeding.
