Meet Jillisa Lynn

We recently connected with Jillisa Lynn and have shared our conversation below.

Jillisa, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My work ethic comes from example of my mother, father, dad and great friends around me. My mother was a single mom when I was younger working 3 jobs at once to provide for myself and siblings. She’s been a pillar of hard work, dedication, compassion, creativity, discipline, consistency and encouragement. Also both my father and bonus dad are very hard workers and business owners. All these amazing attributes have been instilled in me. When you love your work it never feels like work. The best part is the reward of being able to give back from your success of hard work paying off.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’ve been in the entertainment industry for about 15 years. I was originally born in New York and lived in Los Angeles for 11 years before relocating to Atlanta for three years. I found my way back home earlier this year due to my sisters stage three triple negative breast cancer diagnosis that she just recently beat. Thank God ! To give you some background on myself, I started my career as a model, and quickly grew into acting, writing, producing, music, and all of the arts! I’ve traveled around the world and worked with numerous talent and notable celebrities. I’ve been blessed with great mentorship and friendships, during my years in the industry. Last year I published self help book titled “Thoughts of Serenity”. I’ve been given the vision to create Hint of Her, I partnered with a honeybee farm and have been focused on growing my brand and educating people on the importance of bees for our pollination and agriculture. I source the best most rare raw honey around the country. My current focus is opening up my first brick and mortar store, titled The Hive Beetique, located in Rochester New York. My hometown.. it will be local and special curated goods, with my partner who has an apparel line Reyes Collective. I will be launching my Tea collection in the coming weeks. @JillisaLynn @Hintofher @TheHive585

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Being gentle with myself on this journey of life. Continuing to persevere through obstacles and overcome anxiety. Give yourself grace for things you’re learning and know that great things take time. Your anxiety is just fear of the unknown and faith can’t reside in the same place as fear. Choose to believe in yourself.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
When feeling overwhelmed I like to take a moment to collect my thoughts and energy. It could be writing things down that are in my mind or talking our the thoughts. This way I’m not fixated on what’s overwhelming me and instead I have it on paper or out of my mind, then you can break down steps to feel more in control. Take a few deep breaths and center yourself so that you’re able to overcome the overwhelming.
