Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jingyi Luna Peng. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Jingyi Luna, so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?
To be respectful to everyone in the room, including myself. One of the most significant changes in my mindset is learning not only to respect and understand where others stand and what their need are, but also to treat myself with the same respect. I realized that to be productive and achieve my goals, it is so important to acknowledge my feelings and intuitions instead of trying to assimilate myself or blend in without thinking. Only when I truly value myself the same as I value the others can I start to collaborate with them; otherwise, it is simply a waste of time.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Endurance, passion, and practice. For those who want to pursue their dreams, I would say please consider it thoroughly, but once you are sure, then trust yourself, and all you need to do for the rest is just hard work!

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Anyone who writes/directs/acts and feels like they want to know more about the world and the people in it, please feel free to send an email to [email protected] – I’m also happy to just chat about life!
