Meet Joan Coletto

We recently connected with Joan Coletto and have shared our conversation below.

Joan, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

The journey to finding my purpose began long before I ever realized it. As a teenager, I was the go-to friend—the one who always listened, offered advice, and helped others make sense of their feelings. Although I was able to be that support for those around me, I didn’t realize that I was disconnected from my own inner voice.

It wasn’t until the end of my first marriage that I began to shift inward. It was this painful time that opened the door to my spiritual journey and set me on a path of self-discovery. I began to understand myself on a deeper level by uncovering and releasing limiting beliefs and blocks that had been keeping me from living a life aligned with my heart’s true desires.

I also realized that my passion for helping others could be channeled into supporting others, through spirituality, to release what was no longer serving them. This started a whole new career for me. After doing this work for several years, I was introduced to hypnotherapy and that is when things really took off. Not only did it create huge personal growth, it fueled something greater in my work with clients.

I developed my Heart Shift method, which blends the transformative power of hypnotherapy with the deep insights of spiritual practice. Through this unique fusion, I am living my purpose—to be of service to others by guiding them through their own journey of self-discovery, healing, and transformation. With Heart Shift, I help people unlock the potential within them, so they can break free from the patterns holding them back and step into the life they’ve always dreamed of.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I primarily work with individual clients and see them in person at my office in Chicago or virtually. Seeing my Clients light up when they have an aha moment is priceless! One of the things I love about hypnosis is the ability to laser in and get to the false and limiting belief quickly. Although it still takes time and effort to shift, uncovering the belief is the all important first step.

I am in the process of creating an online community which will launch in January of 2025. I am excited to be able to be of service to a greater number of people. The community, Transformational Living Community (TLC), will have workshops based on monthly themes, group coaching, discounts on individual sessions, and more.

I have also written a book titled Heart Shift which will be released in February/March 2025. I share my journey, processes, and stories of individuals who I have had the honor of supporting as they shed limiting and false beliefs. My greatest desire in writing the book is giving hope to people who are living in pain and show them that there is a way out.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I believe the qualities that have been most impactful for me are; Curiosity, vulnerability, and willingness to be a learner. Being open to new experiences, asking questions, and being open keep us growing. If we are not growing we are stagnant and begin to wither away. My intension is to keep growing until I lay this body down.

My advice is to practice deep listening, ask questions and accept that you do not know everything and never will know everything. There is always more to learn.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

I have been blessed with having many wonderful mentors and have read many inspirational books. If I had to pick one of the most impactful books it would be The Sermon on the Mount by Emmett Fox. It is a metaphysical interpretation of a Bible passage and was the first spiritual book I read. I was not raised in a very religious home and I’m not one who has studied the Bible. As my first introduction to spirituality, it was life changing. The most impactful concept and message that I got out of it was that we are all one and God, or Higher Power, is of and for good always. This concept of a power greater than myself that is of and for good has been a great comfort during the challenging times of my life.
