We recently connected with Joaquin Castillo and have shared our conversation below.

Joaquin, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
I guess it has to do with how I was raised and the place I was born. Argentina is an amazing country but also very tough place to grow your artist career. It always pushes you to try it harder to make things happend.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Hello there! My name is Joaquin Castillo, I’m an Argentinian musician, producer and sound engineer. I have been developing myself in the music industry since I was a kid. Sincerely i have been working in underground music production since almost all my life. I started listening to music and playing music with friends and family. I participated in bands from different genres and played different instruments as well (Drums, Bass, Guitar, etc) which ended up on start working in music production…from playing with the bands, to record, to mixing, to mastering, to do live sound engineering, to releasing the records, to found an independent record label, to coordinating national and international tours and more.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
More than skills, i think that the most important quality for me is to be passionate about what you want to do, and believe in yourself. In my case, also, i  needed to solve or get involved in many different aspects of the music production / industry. Which made me develop some knowledge in many different field, that made me collect a few tools for working in diverse musical projects and grew my experience in music production (recording, mixing & mastering).

I always believed in the collective side of music and art in general. I think that working with someone else perspective is always the best way to grow and have better and more rich results.
