Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Joe Graham. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Joe, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
Thank you for considering me as a person to interview and have me write about living in Camden, SC. My work ethic comes from within my spirit and soul. I am a high energy person with alot of enthusiasm and commitment to completing tasks efficiently and effectively. A high energy work ethic and positive and healthy work ethic makes a greater impact within the organization, the community and beyond.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Readers need to know I enjoy working out, staying active, maintain a healthy physically fit lifestyle and keeping a positive mindset moving through today’s world. I’m an avid, swimming, cycling, running enthusiast. I love golf and everything about it. I enjoy setting and attaining training goals, motivating myself and others and giving the best version of myself possible. I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I find taking a minute or two asking people how their day is going teaches me a couple of new things about others. Listening to others is one way to learn something new.
I think of my job as an opportunity to stay physically fit, opportunity to grow the business, help the community, gain trust and dependability with people, and keep people safe on the road.
I am part of a team of local tire and automotive service industry and local family business in Camden, South Carolina. What I do is help customers meet their transportation needs, provide tire service tasks, maintain their investments in their tires, provide friendly professional customer service, and hopefully add value to customers’ tire shopping and automotive service and maintenance experience. In addition to assisting customers and communicate well with staff, I also communicate customer reviews of their products to tire wholesale and network representatives. Specifically, tire performance technology continues to improve, the equipment that is needed to install tires contines to evolve and within our community the sizes of vehicles and performing capabilities continues to increase and improve so staying up to date with current technology benefits customers tremendously.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back at the tire services, transportation vehicles has evolved trmendously over the years. To my journey, the most important quality that is impactful to customers is showing love of what with my current position is incorporating the golden rule with respect to helping others. Treat others how you will like to be treated. One skill that continues through time be flexible and able to learn multiple ways to handle a wider range of situations makes me more versatile and gifted at the tasks requested. Doing my best throughout my journey keeps me on present and loving that is where you find me today. Keeping and open mind to learn improvements adds additional skills and makes my journey more valuable to the customers, organization and network.

Do you think it’s better to go all in on our strengths or to try to be more well-rounded by investing effort on improving areas you aren’t as strong in?
Totally. I research and study topics such as building upon strengths with an open mind in ways that better serve myself in ways that help others better. I found that building upon strengths supports efforts to find areas of weakness or topics needing improvement and provides opportunities to build upon weakness to eventually use them as strengths. People are passionate with what they love and are drawn to these topics. I see how they handle these situations and apply what I love and am passionate with where I am today.
