We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Joe Marzahl. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Joe below.
Joe, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I found purpose the hard way—by first realizing I didn’t have it. For years, I was chasing promotions and paychecks, stuck in the cycle of corporate success that left me restless and disconnected. What I was really craving was space, freedom, and something that felt meaningful.
That shift came when I reconnected with my love of the outdoors. Land gave me the grounding and possibility I had been missing. It wasn’t just about acreage—it was about peace, presence, and creating something lasting for my family.
That experience inspired me to help others do the same through rural real estate, guiding people to find their own retreats. And it also led me to build 7-Ranch Getaways, our glamping business just 1.5 hours from DFW and Oklahoma City. What started as a blank canvas has become a curated haven of peace and adventure—where guests can unplug, recharge, and experience the magic of nature without giving up comfort.
Now, whether I’m helping a client find their dream property or welcoming guests to the ranch, my purpose is clear: to help people step out of the grind, breathe a little deeper, and create memories that last a lifetime.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
At 7 Ranch, what began as a blank canvas has become a thoughtfully curated haven where nature, connection, and adventure come together. We started by shaping the landscape, building our first dome, and creating a retreat where our family of seven could slow down, bond, and grow closer.
In 2023, we realized the magic of this place was too special to keep just for ourselves. That’s when we opened 7 Ranch to others—inviting guests to experience the same peace, joy, and sense of connection that has meant so much to our family.
What makes 7 Ranch special is the balance it offers: tranquility for those who need rest, adventure for those craving the outdoors, and space for couples and families to truly reconnect away from the noise of daily life.
My wife (Elle) and I are proud parents of five. Our journey started with the simple desire to escape the city. Today, it has grown into a place where others can do the same—find calm, clarity, and inspiration in the beautifully wild experience that 7 Ranch offers.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to continue expanding what guests can experience here—more unique stays, new ways to enjoy the land, and thoughtful touches that make every visit unforgettable.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. A strong support system. None of this would have been possible without my wife. She believed in me when I took a leap from a stable corporate path into the unknown of entrepreneurship. Her encouragement gave me the courage to keep going on the hard days and celebrate the small wins along the way.
2. Adaptability. Starting your own business means every plan you make is going to shift—sometimes daily. Markets change, clients change, and even your own goals evolve. The ability to pivot without losing momentum has been critical. If you’re just starting out, practice getting comfortable with change rather than resisting it—it will become one of your greatest advantages.
3. Willingness to take risks. Leaving behind certainty was intimidating, but every meaningful step forward has come from taking a risk—buying that first piece of land, launching a new idea, or investing in growth.
My advice to others would be surround yourself with people who will remind you of your vision when doubt creeps in and don’t wait for the “perfect time.” It doesn’t exist. Start small if you have to but lean into the discomfort of risk. That’s where opportunity lives.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
We’re always excited to connect with people and businesses who share our vision. Whether you’re an influencer, a local business, or a brand offering products that could enhance our guests’ glamping experience, we’d love to explore ways to collaborate.
At 7-Ranch, we’re continually looking for fresh and unique ways to grow our brand and create unforgettable stays for our visitors.
