We recently connected with Joe Platz and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Joe with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I get my work ethic from the men who raised me—my grandfather and my dad. My grandfather was a rancher and carpenter, and my dad is a master automotive technician. I grew up in a rural community where hard work wasn’t optional—it was respected, expected, and passed down. That foundation shaped me early, Coupled with my Christian faith, scripture teaches us to work as though we’re working for the Lord, not for man. I believe your career is one of the clearest lanes to express the gifts God gave you.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Right now, we’re in an exciting growth phase—expanding our footprint, launching new investor-focused training programs, and inviting high-integrity professionals to join us inside PLACE. I’m also working on initiatives that merge faith, business, and financial stewardship in meaningful ways.
Real estate has been my calling since 2003, and I’ve discovered over time that it’s not just a career—it’s a mission. When you understand your purpose is bigger than survival or comfort, you show up differently. As a husband, father, and leader, I take seriously the role of provider and role model. It’s said that if you want to perfect something, teach it—and leading a high-performing team means I have to love the work, live it with integrity, and teach it from experience, not theory.
What I do today goes far beyond traditional transactions. As a Wealth Builder and Real Estate Consultant, I help people think strategically about real estate as a vehicle for long-term financial growth—not just a place to live or a property to flip. My background includes not only sales, but also training, investment strategy, land development, and team leadership. I lead a high-performing group within PLACE, the #1 real estate platform in the nation, and I’m based in Washington and Idaho, working with clients and agents who are serious about building generational wealth.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, three qualities have been instrumental in shaping my journey. First, I’ve committed to being growth-minded—even when it’s uncomfortable. Some of the biggest breakthroughs in my career came on the other side of challenges I didn’t feel ready for. I’ve learned that discomfort is often the clearest sign that growth is happening. If you’re just starting out, lean into learning environments that stretch you—even if they’re humbling. You’ll never regret investing in your own capacity.
Second, I’ve been unwilling to quit. Real estate, like any entrepreneurial path, is full of highs and lows. What has kept me moving forward isn’t just motivation—it’s discipline and vision. If you stay rooted in your “why,” you’ll outlast the moments when things feel uncertain or discouraging.
Third, I believe that “good enough” is never enough if you’re pursuing an excellent life. Excellence isn’t perfection—it’s intentionality. I’ve made it my mission to elevate others, whether that’s a client making a life-changing move or an agent stepping into leadership. If you help others grow, you’ll grow too. Excellence begins with raising your own standards and aligning your work with purpose.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
