We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Joelle Sahar. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Joelle below.
Joelle, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I found that writing music was so naturally effortless, it almost writes itself, and I feel immense joy unlike any other,.. the music writing part it so connected, I’m constantly grateful to be living and breathing this experience.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m a singer-songwriter and composer based in Los Angeles, originally from Lebanon. Music has been an integral part of my life since childhood—my father, a violinist, was my first music teacher, and I grew up surrounded by the magic of melodies and instruments.
I discovered my love for songwriting at the age of 14, and that passion led me to establish my music company, Music She Wrote, where I create songs for various projects and emerging artists. Over time, my work has naturally evolved to encompass a diverse range of styles, including Pop, Arabian, Disney-inspired music, and Musical Theater.
What excites me most about my creative process is how I connect with the energy of the moment—tuning into a flow where the music seems to unfold in my mind. From there, I simply write what I hear. It’s a process that feels both intuitive and magical, and it’s what makes every piece I create feel special and meaningful.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the three most impactful qualities in my journey have been courage, self-belief, and intuition. Courage allowed me to take risks and step outside my comfort zone, self-belief helped me bet on myself even when the path was unclear, and intuition guided me to make decisions aligned with my authentic self.
For those early in their journey, my advice is to avoid getting caught up in “shiny object syndrome”—the constant search for external validation or the next big thing. Instead, take time to really listen to your heart and focus on what truly makes you happy. It may sound simple, but discovering what brings you genuine joy and fulfillment is vital. When you pursue what you love with intention and passion, success and opportunities will naturally follow.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was instill in me the foundation of love, family, and inner peace. My mother taught me the importance of building a strong family foundation—she was always there for my father, supporting him unconditionally and showing me the power of loyalty and unity.
My father, on the other hand, taught me to see the world through a child’s eyes. He had an unshakable sense of joy and wonder, and his life revolved around playing music, which made him so intensely happy. That energy deeply shaped me, and I’ve become so much like him in that way. Together, my parents showed me how to live with love, creativity, and an unyielding sense of joy.
