Meet Joey Madru

We were lucky to catch up with Joey Madru recently and have shared our conversation below.

Joey, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Developing confidence and self-esteem is an ongoing journey. Historically, I struggled immensely in this area, grappling with crippling self-doubt and insecurity. However, I’ve come to understand that confidence is not something you either have or don’t have; it’s an ongoing process of self-discovery, self-acceptance, and cultivating growth.

One of the most significant realizations I’ve had is that taking action, even when it’s uncomfortable or daunting, is crucial in building confidence. It’s natural to fear failure or making mistakes, but the only way to grow is to step outside your comfort zone. Every action I take, no matter how small, brings a sense of accomplishment and moves me closer to my goals.

It’s essential to acknowledge that setbacks are a part of the journey. Sucking at something or experiencing failure can be disappointing, but I’ve learned to view these moments as opportunities for growth rather than reasons to give up. I try to embrace the mantra “I can’t make a wrong decision.” It reminds me that there are no absolutes in life and that every choice I make, even if it doesn’t yield the desired outcome, is an opportunity to learn and course-correct.

Overall, developing confidence and self-esteem is an ongoing process that requires patience, self-reflection, and a willingness to step outside of your comfort zone and try new things. While there are no quick fixes or easy solutions, each small victory and moment of self-discovery brings me closer to embracing my true potential and living life with confidence and authenticity.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
After having three babies in a span of 16 months in 2015-2016, I stepped away from corporate America to prioritize raising my three beautiful children. When they started to gain a little independence, I also craved a return to some autonomy. As I dipped my toes back into the professional world, I was determined to do things differently. No longer willing to sacrifice my well-being and family life for the sake of a career, I set out to make a little money in the pockets of time I could find as a stay at home mama of three young children. That’s when I discovered my passion for supporting female founders in the online space to operate and scale their businesses on their own terms.

For the past three years, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside inspiring women who are driven to bring their visions to life. I create a framework for female founders to thrive, focusing on what they love most in their businesses while I handle the rest. Serving as their strategic partner, I provide the support, guidance, and collaborative spirit needed to help them navigate the complexities of entrepreneurship. Whether it’s streamlining operations, optimizing workflows, or offering strategic insights to overcome challenges, I’m committed to empowering women to succeed on their terms.

Recently, I took a significant step forward in my journey by establishing my own business to offer the same services I’ve been providing my clients for the past three years. This decision was driven by a desire to extend my support to more female founders and expand my reach within the online business community. As someone who has supported online entrepreneurs for the past several years, I understand the challenges and opportunities that come with building and scaling a business. My goal is to leverage my experience and expertise to empower women to achieve their goals while staying true to themselves and their values.

If you’re a woman in business who’s ready to take your venture to the next level while staying true to the things you love in your business, I’d love to connect. Together, we can redefine success, break down barriers, and create a world where women are empowered to achieve their fullest potential.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
These three qualities stand out as particularly impactful:

Adaptability: In the ever-evolving landscape of entrepreneurship, adaptability is key. Being open to trying new things and learning new methods has been instrumental. I’ve found that some of the most innovative solutions and breakthroughs come through collaboration and being receptive to new ideas. Embrace change and be willing to pivot when necessary. Surround yourself with diverse perspectives and be open to exploring unconventional paths. I believe that entrepreneurship presents a unique opportunity to challenge the status quo and find creative ways to navigate challenges and seize opportunities. After all, we didn’t go into business to do things the way they’ve always been done, right?

Staying Humble: This really goes hand-in-hand with adaptability because the online business landscape is constantly evolving, and what worked yesterday may not work tomorrow. It’s crucial to acknowledge that there’s always more to learn and that no one has all the answers. I try to approach every opportunity with humility and a willingness to listen and learn from others. Stay curious, seek out mentors and peers who can offer valuable insights, and never underestimate the power of continuous growth and self-improvement.

Tenacity: Taking chances and stepping outside your comfort zone is often where significant growth often occurs. I’m still learning to embrace failure as part of the journey and view it as an opportunity to learn and evolve. Setbacks are inevitable, but it’s how you respond to them that ultimately determines your success. Stay focused on your goals, be willing to put in the hard work, and never lose sight of your vision.

I believe that embodying these three traits can help anyone on their journey.

She possesses a strong work ethic and isn’t afraid to roll up her sleeves and put in the necessary effort to achieve her dreams. Confidence is another key characteristic of my ideal client. She knows her strengths and weaknesses, and she’s not afraid to seek support where needed.
