We were lucky to catch up with John Chiong recently and have shared our conversation below.
John , so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
Well, my optimism basically comes from music. Whenever I feel down and not right, i just listen to music and it not only lifts up my spirit but it also clears my mind and gives me motivation to practically anything.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
It all started when my parents moved me to America from the Philippines when I was 5. We moved around alot and settled in a town called Santa Clara in California. I grew up loving sports and school but when I went to a field trip to see a play, I had this huge flame that lit inside me along with a huge interest in Acting and Music. Ever since then, without any support, I learned to follow my passion, regardless of the small views and listens I get through Social Media. Just being able to make funny videos, be an Extra Actor and have even a few people enjoy my songs is enough to keep me going and taking small baby steps.
What I feel most excited about is my brand which is my alias “KradfulPride”. I want to be a Social Influencer and Song Artist. Right now my main focus iss building my brand on Instagram and Tiktok. Even though my job demands so much of time, I always find room to put at least 3 hours into my passion whether i sleep late or wake up really early.
I will be releasing 3 new songs in 2024 that I can definitely relate too and hope my listener can as well.
One song has a summer love theme to it and the other two are punk rock heart break songs that i spent a portion of my teenage years writing.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The 3 skills that really helped me develop over the years took me alot of time and courage to develop. I was always shy and still am but I had to take that big step to gain confidence in order to achieve my goals. First skill was Acting, I had to mimic and watch multiple videos so many times and post reels on social media regardless of how i looked since I needed to gain confidence and experience in acting. Second was Singing, like acting, I had to learn it myself since my parents didn’t think that investing in them for me would do anything good. Thanks to me covering music over the years and making music with my best friend, I was able to gain confidence to sing proudly and passionately. Third skill is never giving up. I’ve had and still have negative comments and people judge me for my voice and videos, but as optimistic as I am, I just smile through the storm regardless how painful it is because I don’t really care much about numbers, as long as that one follow that has been watching my followers likes my content and music, that is enough to keep me motivated and happy. Still though, I am still lacking in all three skills and I am still polishing them. It’s so much fun struggling and failing since when I learn and get one like, it just brightens my day.
Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
Currently it is connections. I would love to get an Manager but I do not have the time to look for someone that can help me with connections, marketing and etc.
