We recently connected with John Green and have shared our conversation below.

Hi John , so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?
I have learned to focus on the things that can make you successful. Focus more on personal growth rather than what someone else is doing or accomplishing. Taking what you have learned from being in the room and applying it to your every day focus.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I run a Podcast called The Super P podcast that focuses on art, music ,sports and pop culture. we recently just surpassed the 20K mark on youtube. I also run two online stores Double j vintage and The super p podcast merch shop on esty. And on top of all of this i help Dannycortesnyc with whatever comes up. Im always down to create content and create healthy partnerships across all mediums.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three Qualiites 1. Stay positive
2. Dont take short cuts
3. Treat everyone with respect. You never know when you will need that person down the line.

Thats my best advice for people in their journey. Cause you encounter so many roadblocks and situations. You have to be the consistent one at all times. Ask the questions, be the change.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
Definitely the content space. Learning how to make better short form and long form videos. Ive averaged 5,000 subscribers over the past 4 months so i think that is a testament to the work thats being put out. And i look forward to growing that number.
