Meet JoiLeah

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful JoiLeah a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

JoiLeah, so great to have you with us today. There are so many topics we want to ask you about, but perhaps the one we can start with is burnout. How have you overcome or avoided burnout?
I like to take breaks and go on Hiatus! I will go on a sabbatical and recharge myself. When I get to the point where I feel burnt out, I go on vacation or take a trip somewhere that I can really relax. I take my kids and we just GO! Self-care is very important, and you have to put yourself first. Spending time with family is also important. I recharge when I get around my family and visit my hometown in South Suburbs of Chicago. It’s important to me to take care of my mental because you only have 1 body 1 mind and 1 soul. So, you have to be the 1 to take care of you.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in my journey… #1 is knowing your WORTH and charge double. #2 is Believing in yourself, being focus and going after what you want. Know that you can be prosperous in your field. #3 for me is Good work ethic. positive attitude and try to be kind when it comes to business. Sometimes you have to put your foot down and demand the things you want. But with good work ethic people will go above and beyond for you when they know you have good character and good work ethics,

If your own this media correspondent journey, make sure you developed time management, personality skills, and good work ethics. You will definitely prosper in this business.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
God is Able by Priscilla Shirer This book changed my life. She explains how God is able to do ALL things in a way that I can relate too. The verse that stuck with me was Ephesians 3: 20-21 Now unto Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. That verse speaks to me. ‘Now’s” the time to believe in yourself and a God who is able to do ALL THINGS. If you don’t know your purpose God is able to show you your purpose. If you are at a crossroad, God is able to help you cross that road, No matter the situation if your head is down, you just have to look up because GOD IS ABLE.
