Meet JoJo Williams

We recently connected with JoJo Williams and have shared our conversation below.

JoJo, we are so happy that our community is going to have a chance to learn more about you, your story and hopefully even take in some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Let’s start with self-care – what do you do for self-care and has it had any impact on your effectiveness?
As a body worker and energy healer, my self care can be lacking as I sometimes feel too tired to give to myself at end of the day. I have learned over the years how not making time for self-care has a direct impact on my ability to effectively give to others. I now make time each day for self-care which is ever so important. My self-care consists of rest, energy clearing & balancing, stretching, myofascial release, breathwork, weight training, walking, nail services, massage and facial. I have found doing a regular routine of some of these self-care acts rejuvenates me and allows me to continue to give to others without feeling burned out and like I left myself out.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I have recently launched a brand change as my business has become more focused on bodywork & healing sessions. My previous brand (Massage and Birthing by JoJo) incorporated doula supports with massage & healing sessions. My new brand (Body and Soul by JoJo) is now focused on specialized bodywork for the Perinatal & Postnatal period along with Craniosacral Fascial Therapy for infants & children, however I serve the entire family. I am very excited with the changes that represent my brand and allow me to expand further.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three skills I found to be most impactful on my journey is 1. The ability to confidently address the bodywork needs of perinatal & postpartum individuals. 2. The ability to treat highly sensitive areas for infants & children. 3. The ability to be sensitive to the needs of my clients. My advice to those early into their journey is to learn, practice and be open to growth whenever there is an opportunity. We are always students and have so much to learn from each day.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
Currently I am challenged by the significant amount of clients I hear from who found my services only by chance through a friend. What they tell me is they suffered for so long since they did not know there was a treatment for their issue or where to access treatment from in their community. For those in the perinatal or postnatal period it is crucial they have access to services to help. I have been able to help others avoid unnecessary very invasive procedures with my services. They all tell me had they not found me they would have suffered even more and truly grateful. Many ask why their physician did not tell them these services are available and would like to see information being made available to their physicians. I feel this issue must be addressed at the level of educating physicians about the services that are available to treat the unique needs of their patients. I hope in doing so this will provide access for services to help the community.
