Meet Jon & Ashley Scott

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jon & Ashley Scott a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Jon & Ashley, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.

The creativity is kept alive by constantly researching, pushing boundaries and always on the look for what Inspires us, grabs our attention or even the most ridiculous things are taken and transformed into our crazy vision. We also challenge each other and talk out our ideas and they evolve with Generally a bit of both our visions.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

We own and operate a Seasonal Haunted House for the last 15 years. It all began in a backyard and slowly grew into an Independent Haunt in a commercial space and processed our last season onto 5 acres of land and expanded our Haunt to include a Hayride, Corn Maze Haunted House and an area for local Vendors to come and share their art and creativity as well. We have done “We Scare to be Aware of Autism” event, where we raise money for local Special Ed teachers to help supply classroom needs. We have also helped develop and grow Boomers Halloween Haunt an event which ran for 3 years across numerous parks until the company sold to another company. As well as being able to bring a Fright Night to our Local Minor League Baseball team, the Modesto Nuts and affiliate of The Seattle Mariners. We are heavily immersed in The Haunt/Horror community. Outside of our Haunt we also partake in the Panel Team for Sinister Creature Con in Sacramento, Ca. Jon helps our guests get to and from their Tables to the Panel room and back, and Ashley is a Moderator for the Panel Team. Horrific Network is a huge part of our life as we Podcast, film and do a bunch of projects with our amazing group of friends. We frequently travel to Haunt events each year, Disney Lovers as well as just an active family with our amazing 4 year old son Walter we adopted during Covid.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

For us those skills would have to be Adaptability, Patience and The Sky’s the Limit. We are firm believers in reaching for the Stars. We have to able to adapt quickly for fixes, changes and new scenarios each year with Build, a Live Event and the permit approval process. We have many challenges each year that would make most quit. It pushes us to find a way and also helps pave the way for others by challenging ourselves to accomplish our goals. Patience is key to accomplish specific goals. It helps us really think through things, and find ways to do it right the 1st time. When your dreams are so big you constantly have to push yourselves further and further.

How would you describe your ideal client?

An Ideal Client for us would be someone who has a love for fun, laughter, Horror, and Haunts. What we love the most is that this comes in all different shapes and sizes. We welcome all. We love sharing the Art of the Scare with people. Seeing families make memories and come closer. It’s a great way for our clients to experience a thrill and adrenaline rush locally without having to travel. Our community if loosing a lot of Family Fun Affordable activities and we have a lack of things for our Young Adultss to partake in. With that being said it is very important to us to bring a Family Fun Haunt to our community. We cater to all our clients. Families with young children who are scared can get a No Scare walkthrough with Ashley so they can enjoy the event in a safe way and their family members can still enjoy scares. We love what we do and just want to continue to grow and bring more to our community as well as more to the Haunt Industry.
