Meet Jon Freeze

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jon Freeze. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Jon, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.

Nostalgia is my creative fuel. When I feel my photography inspiration running dry, I turn to the past—flipping through a magazine from the 2000s or watching a movie from the 80s. These nostalgic aesthetics, packed with innate emotion, reignite my imagination and fill my mind with fresh, new ideas.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Hello, my name is Jon Freeze, and I’m a photographer based in Houston. From the very beginning, photography has been my way of creating lasting memories while expressing myself in ways words often can’t. It’s an incredible medium that allows me to bring my dreams and ideas to life, translating what’s in my mind into visuals that connect with others on a deeper level.

Last November, I had the honor of presenting my debut show, You Live Here Now, which was a milestone for me as an artist. Currently, I’m working on an exciting new show called SUITS, inspired by a project I completed in 2023. This upcoming exhibit is set to launch in April, and I can’t wait to share it with you. Stay tuned for updates, as this is a project that means a lot to me and showcases a whole new dimension of my creative vision.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

First and foremost is having raw, unfiltered imagination. Push the envelope—there’s a whole world of untapped ideas waiting to be brought to life. Second is confidence. In a world filled with noise and countless opinions, believing in yourself and your vision is essential. Confidence is what grounds an idea, giving it the momentum to evolve into something tangible. Even when the path seems uncertain, trusting in your ability to bring an idea to fruition can make all the difference. Third would be being personable and talking to people. Coming out of my shell and showing my personality to the models and collaborators I’ve worked with has been a game-changer. Building relationships and creating a comfortable, inspiring environment has opened doors to working with some of the most incredible individuals I’ve encountered.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Yes, right now I would say artist of any form. In my view there is always immense value to creatives coming together and putting ideas out there to make something that could inspire people. That right now is my biggest focus, not only for my next show coming up but also for the Houston creative community as well.
