Meet Jon Giurleo

We recently connected with Jon Giurleo and have shared our conversation below.

Jon, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
I try different things and see what works and what does not, playing around with certain ideas and seeing what sticks.

I have a constant flow of ideas, some good and some not-so-great. I don’t try to stop the ideas from coming; instead, I focus on sifting through them. My creative process involves exploring these concepts, figuring out which ones have potential, and refining them into something special.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m mostly producing high-energy electronic music, though I’m always up for exploring different genres.

I guide the creative process from ground zero to a fully polished song ready for release.

But my work doesn’t stop with music. I recently ventured into storytelling and published my first story, “Lux Hart and the Time Machine.” It’s been a thrilling journey, and I’m excited about evolving as a producer/writer and creating more captivating works over time.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

  1. Learning: The willingness to continuously learn has been a cornerstone of my journey. There will never come a time where any music maker anywhere has all of the answers and knows everything, there is always something to learn for example music theory or how to use a new plugin. My advice to those starting out is to embrace a growth mindset. Seek out resources, courses, and mentors to expand your knowledge base. Keep in mind, learning more is great but be selective of who you listen to and who you choose as a mentor. If you wouldn’t want to be like that person or be where they are at in their creative or business journey, then maybe don’t take their advice or buy their course.
  2. Consistency: Consistency is key. This can be applied to almost anything like fitness or learning a new language. I know it’s easier said than done but show up everyday and put in work and over time it will pay off. To those at the beginning of their journey, I recommend setting realistic goals and establishing a routine. Small, consistent efforts compound over time and lead to significant progress. I still have a lot of room to improve in this department. One thing I am aiming to do more of is release songs onto platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and Soundcloud more consistently. It’s definitely a process to get high quality songs out rapidly. I’ve gone with a quality over quantity approach and I can appreciate what I’ve created so far but looking forward my aim is to release more material more frequently and still maintain the same quality.
  1. Network-building: No one succeeds in isolation. Building a strong network has been instrumental for me. Curate a small team of individuals around you and ensure they complement each other and work well together.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

Exercise helps me with feelings of being overwhelmed. When you’re doing strenuous exercise, the only thing you’re focused on is the present moment and pushing through your workout. I like lifting weights, hitting the heavy bag and going for walks, but anything physical really helps.

Meditation is something I am also a big believer in. I used to think it was woo-woo, kind of nonsense, but I actually find it to be quite relaxing, grounding and greatly beneficial.
