Meet Jonathan Bogner

We were lucky to catch up with Jonathan Bogner recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jonathan, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

Bold Journey incorporates all the subjects from resilience, work ethic, generosity, imposter syndrome, one room, optimism, and purpose down to one core trait called confidence or self-esteem. I don’t know if people are born with confidence or if it is acquired. I believe my confidence was nurtured, and I acquired more confidence and self-esteem throughout my life. It is good to question yourself, but we must always move forward and be confident until proven wrong. That is how I live my life. In my daily routine, I practice rigorous optimism, rugged flexibility, and resilience, which is how I begin my day. Now, let’s go to work.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am producing and hosting of a new reality show called Caregivers Today. I have produced 16 feature films, all with studios, and 10 reality shows, all with major networks. I have also worked as an Executive Producer at Fremantle Media, Critical Content, and All3Media. I am now producing and hosting Caregivers Today and have a consulting practice for people interested in getting a reality show. I suffered two strokes, heart failure, and aphasia (the inability to speak), and I had an implantable defibrillator (ICD) that shocked me eight times. I had PTSD due to all the shocks; my heart was dying, and two years ago, I received a heart transplant. The heart transplant saved my life, but it also came with problems that I still deal with today.

Every day, I go for a walk, exercise, work, and believe some think good will happen. I constantly get rejected professionally, but I only need a few yeses for my show “Caregivers Today” to work. I continuously struggle with my health, dealing with a virus, changes in my three immunosuppressive drugs, and something just the mere act of living. I got injured last week, tearing my meniscus. But every day is new, just dealing with the random nature of life. Just practice rigorous optimism. It is hard for everyone, but keep moving going.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

It is all about our journey, but these qualities are the top three: optimism, persistence, and resilience. I believe in being optimistic and confident because it is a better life. Optimistic people live longer than pessimistic people. Another quality you need is a willingness to persist longer than anyone else. The final quality is being resilient. Life has a tendency always to knock us down. But you must be resilient in your personal and business life because life is disappointing. You must get up and keep going. If you are resilient, you can withstand life’s pressures.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?

I had to reinvent myself and find a new purpose after I got a heart transplant. The rehabilitation took about two years. I lost my confidence and had to reclaim it. My new purpose came to me in the hospital: everyone had a personal story, and I wanted to help. I created Caregivers Today. I was both a Patient and a Caregiver to my 90-year-old mom. As a patient, my wife was my full-time caregiver, and as a caregiver myself, I had to worry about my Mom. Today, I am trying to find a distributor and sponsors for the show. My mom now has Parkinson’s, and I worry about her all the time.
