Meet Jonatta Harmon

We recently connected with Jonatta Harmon and have shared our conversation below.

Jonatta, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I didn’t find my purpose, it found me, through the good, the challenging, the highs and lows of life.

Growing up, I was always that child who was quiet, creative, very observant, and a compassionate person at heart. I wasn’t the “it girl” or the loudest in the room, but there was something about me that others recognized: a calming presence, a helping hand, a girl who saw people and made them feel seen in return. While some people craved attention, I cultivated connection, even as a child. And that followed me into everything I did.

By high school, I turned my creative skills (baking, doing hair, nails, and makeup) into a full-on side hustle. I didn’t just have talent; I had a community that believed in what I could create. Friends, family, even parents of friends would show up, support me, and spread the word. Still, something felt incomplete. I had the gift, the grind, the support, but I didn’t yet have the revelation.

At 16, I started asking deeper questions about who I was and why I was here. I knew of God, based on what others said, from Sunday services to cultural references, but I didn’t know Him personally. I hadn’t yet had the encounter that would shift everything. Until one day in April 2007, I started on a journey of salvation, identity restoration, and soul refinement. And that journey didn’t come wrapped in ribbons. It came through pain, heartbreak, and some very challenging seasons.

In my twenties, life happened with no brakes. I survived depression, abusive relationships, health challenges, and ultimately, a divorce that felt like the final blow. I was at my breaking point, but it turns out, that was also my breakthrough point. God showed me that the pain I carried wasn’t punishment, it was preparation. Everything I endured was designed to shape me into the kind of leader who could create space for others. Not just coach them, not just brand them, but build foundations they could stand on.

After a few years in business, my true purpose began to click. I understood that I wasn’t just called to help people make their brands look good, I was called to help them become who they needed to be so their brands could carry lasting impact. I became a strategist who doesn’t just build logos and websites, but who sees businesses as vehicles of transformation. That led to the unfolding of my personal mission, which is to empower visionary leaders to cultivate BIG—Bold, Innovative, and Genuine—brands that shift culture and serve communities with purpose.

So how did I find my purpose? Through seeking God. Through suffering well. Through surrendering to the slow, refining process of becoming. My purpose found me. My story isn’t just about business, it’s about becoming the kind of leader who leads other leaders. And that’s something no title or trend can ever take away.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m the founder of FBTS, a branding agency built on one powerful belief: people are a brand’s greatest asset. While my journey started with one-off marketing services as a solo creative, it quickly became clear that I was called to do more, to build something that brought humanity back into branding.

At FBTS, we specialize in branding and web design with a heart for authenticity. What sets us apart isn’t just our visuals. It’s our ability to help founders, especially women, connect deeply with their communities and clients. In a world of AI, algorithms and automation, we champion brands that feel real, intentional, and legacy driven.

The work we do isn’t just aesthetic. It’s building a foundation of impact for generations to come. We partner with clients who are solving real problems and want their brand to reflect that. Whether you’re just starting your brand or rebranding with purpose, we’re here not just as designers but as partners in your transformation.

FBTS is more than a creative agency. It’s a movement to make branding more human, more impactful, and more aligned with who you truly are, serve and represent.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The three qualities that shaped my journey the most were discernment, creativity, and resilience. Each of these had to be developed over time, not just through wins, but through wilderness seasons, hard pivots, and deep personal healing.

Discernment became a lifeline. As a woman of faith, I had to learn how to quiet the noise of what everyone else was doing and truly listen to what God was saying about my assignment. Discernment helped me recognize which doors were distractions and which ones were divine alignments. For anyone early in the game, don’t chase trends. Spend time learning how to hear clearly, trust deeply, and move intentionally. That’s how you build something with longevity.

Creativity was the gift I’ve had since I was young, but it wasn’t until I honored it as strategy that it became powerful. Creativity isn’t just about looking good. It’s about solving problems in a way that feels original and authentic to your voice. If you’re building a brand or a business, start seeing your creativity as a tool that can open doors, build connection, and shift atmospheres.

Resilience was forged in the fire. I’ve had seasons where nothing made sense on paper. I’ve faced loss, rejection, and starting over more times than I can count. But every setback refined me. Resilience has been a driving force for me when it comes to building my business, not just when it’s easy, but when it feels impossible. And that kind of strength? It’s God at work in us.

To anyone just starting out: don’t be afraid of the slow seasons. Don’t despise your small beginnings. Develop the character that can sustain the calling. That’s the real win.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

Yes, I’m open to intentional collaboration. I’m not interested in surface-level partnerships. I want to build with women and leaders who are visionaries, faith-based, and serious about creating impact.

I’m especially drawn to founders, creatives, and mission-driven brands who are passionate about legacy-building. If your work goes beyond your product/service and into purpose, we’re probably aligned.
