We were lucky to catch up with Jonika Smith recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jonika , we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?
My grandmother. I know she’s resting in heaven. We lived across the street from a homeless shelter in Savannah Georgia. My grandmother would put tables out in our front yard and feed them. During holidays we would make gift bags for them and she even held Bible study for them. She would say they are people just like us and some of them have just lost their way. She would even send money to the charities on tv for the kids in other countries. She taught us to give freely and from our hearts.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m dedicated to helping individuals and athletes achieve peak performance through balanced nutrition and smart wellness habits. I empower clients to take control of their health through personalized nutrition plans, lifestyle guidance, and sustainable wellness strategies. Working with individuals and athletes to help them reach their fitness, weight management, and performance goals brings me so much joy. Serving as General Manager of the Carolina Predators Semi -Pro Football Team allows me to help support the players overall health and success both on and off the field. We’re preparing now for the Spring Season and bringing home a championship as part of the Coastal Football Alliance Organization.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Resilience, leadership, and empathy have been the driving force behind my journey. They’ve allowed me to overcome challenges, inspire others, and create lasting impact in others lives. My advice would to always be a student, have a desire for change and willingness to be different.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
I’ve read so many great books but I must say my two favorite of all time are The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz and Who moved My Cheese by Spencer Johnson
Always do your best- Give your best effort in every situation, knowing that your best may change from day to day.
The sooner you let go of old ways, the sooner you’ll find new opportunities.
