Meet Jonny Carter

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jonny Carter. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jonny below.

Jonny, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

I’m a big believer that confidence is a product of knowledge. I recognize that the more I know, the more I can learn the better prepared I will be. No matter what the scenario, no matter who is sitting across the table or across the conversation, the intrinsic self-belief is relentlessly supported by a base of awareness.

I equally understand that education is endless, a pursuit without conclusion. But being armed with resources allows you to represent yourself with assurance.

Product knowledge, industry knowledge and an inquisitive attitude to learning are all very helpful.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

The Soccer Development Project is a base that I have long been working towards. I have travelled across much of the US, a lot of Europe and extensively in South East Asia following soccer coaching experiences. Now the project is to build the roots and create the best soccer training environment at home.

The indoor training center is humble with an urban demeanor that resonates with the street soccer vibe and cultivates a specific training culture because of it.

We offer individual & small group soccer training striving to provide the best-in-class environment for aspirational athletes to thrive.

A significant amount of the player development curriculum is immersed in small-sided competitive game play creating a very intense training setting. The relentless requirement of the conditioned game play is demanding on players and very enjoyable to play.

The project adds layers to the development pathway combining necessary technical & tactical progression alongside off-field intangible values that help shape good teammates, not just good players.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

○ Know What You Don’t Know
The expectation is not to always know everything, so demonstrate humility about it. If you don’t have the knowledge or skill set to perform a task, then seek help from those who do know.

○ Open Minded & Intellectually Inquisitive
There are often multiple ways to be a success. Various paths can often lead to the same summit. Respect all opinions and acknowledge all options rather than be stoic or stubborn. Listen rather than talk.

○ Get Up & Go To Work
Luck beats genius. Genius beats endeavor. Endeavor wins when you have neither luck nor genius.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Always on the lookout for friends and partnerships to help share the messaging of the Soccer Development Project.

Perhaps the biggest topic where help can be most effective is with sponsorship donations. There are many people within the local community who want to participate in the Soccer Development Project training environment. But not all can afford the financial outlay in austere times.

While we do offer plenty of complimentary events and the price point for a training session is incredibly reasonable for the quality of soccer coaching, the family budget reach is sometimes too much for some.

With the business overheads we cannot operate for free. So, the generosity of outside influence is greatly appreciated, with donations of as little as $10.00 a training session transferred directly to the benefit of local youth players.

If you want to contribute to the donations, please reach out, your call, text or email is most welcome.

Many thanks

Jonny Carter
