Meet Jordan Alexa

We recently connected with Jordan Alexa and have shared our conversation below.

Jordan , so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

I’m not sure if I can claim to have completely overcome imposter syndrome. However, before embarking on my journey to relentlessly pursue my dreams, I realized that overcoming imposter syndrome begins with a choice. I can either succumb to its doubts or push forward despite them. It was during this realization that I discovered the liberating power of saying “who cares.” Imposter syndrome can overwhelm us with imagined scenarios, but these are just thoughts, not truths. What is true is that I possess gifts, I generate great ideas, and I have the ability to solve significant problems in the world.

I’m hesitant to say that I’ve moved beyond imposter syndrome entirely because as I progress and achieve more, each new challenge can bring its reappearance. Yet, it’s the evidence of my past decisions to persevere and the knowledge that imposter syndrome, while present, holds no dominion over me, that emboldens me to continue taking leaps of faith.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

As the owner of Inscribe Out, a dedicated Storytelling + Creative Consulting business, I am deeply immersed in the art of narrative. If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Reflecting on my journey, three qualities have been pivotal for me are:

1. Boldness over Fear: Learning to embrace boldness over fear has been transformative. Fear is merely an emotion that can hold us back from reaching our potential. By daring to take risks and step outside my comfort zone, I’ve discovered new opportunities and expanded my horizons. Advice: Challenge yourself to confront fears head-on. Start with small steps and gradually build confidence in tackling larger challenges.

2. Commitment to Plan A: Abandoning the idea of a plan B has been crucial in my journey. It’s about wholeheartedly committing to my goals and dreams without a safety net. This mindset fosters determination and unwavering focus, driving me to pursue my passions relentlessly. Advice: Stay committed to your vision. Use setbacks as learning experiences rather than reasons to pivot. Trust in your abilities and stay dedicated to achieving your aspirations.

3. Selective Dream-Sharing: Being cautious about who I share my dreams with has been essential. While people may have good intentions, not everyone understands or supports ambitious goals. So while they believe they are giving you good advice, they may honestly be rattling off their own fears and concerns. Protecting my dreams from negativity and surrounding myself with supportive, like-minded individuals has been empowering. Advice: Share your dreams selectively with trusted confidants who genuinely support your aspirations and can provide constructive feedback.

Honorable Mention – Faith and Humility: My relationship with God has profoundly shaped my journey. Understanding that I am a vessel for impactful work humbles me and removes insecurities. This spiritual foundation provides clarity, strength, and resilience in pursuing my purpose. Advice: Cultivate a relationship with your faith or spiritual practice. Trust in a higher purpose and allow it to guide you through challenges and successes alike.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?

In the past 12 months, my biggest area of growth has been embracing the concept of going the extra mile. While I’ve always been confident in my abilities, I realized that staying within my comfort zone could lead to complacency. By pushing myself to exceed expectations and challenge the status quo, I’ve discovered new facets of my capabilities and unlocked hidden potential.

Going the extra mile has been transformative because it forces me to prove myself to myself. It’s not just about meeting expectations but surpassing them with dedication and perseverance. This mindset shift has opened doors to opportunities and connections that I wouldn’t have encountered if I had remained content with my usual level of performance.

Moreover, this journey has allowed me to reconnect with gifts and talents that I had as a child but had forgotten about or dismissed as unimportant. Many of these abilities I abandoned because I believed they were impractical or beyond my reach. Embracing the challenge of going the extra mile has reignited these passions and shown me that what I once considered “dumb” or unattainable can actually be sources of great strength and fulfillment.

Embracing this approach has not only enhanced my professional growth but also enriched my personal development. It’s taught me the value of continuous improvement and the rewards of pushing beyond perceived limits. Moving forward, I am committed to maintaining this mindset, knowing that the journey of self-discovery and achievement lies in consistently striving to go above and beyond.
