Meet Jordan Cordel

We recently connected with Jordan Cordel and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jordan , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

Honestly, it comes from my parents. My mom and dad are 2 of the hardest working people I know and still find time to balance work with family. It inspired me to always put that work in for the things I wanted in life whether at my job, school, and my music career. If you truly want something, you’ll put the work in to have it.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

My name is Jordan Cordel. I am a singer/songwriter currently in Austin, Texas but originally from Port Arthur, Texas. I’m currently working on my debut album titled “You Made Me This Way” which will release this Fall. I truly believe I created some of the best music in my career and I look forward to sharing it with the world.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

1. Showing Up even when you don’t feel like it. When you are trying to make your dreams come true, you got to be willing to put the work in, make sacrifices to accomplish the goal at hand. Regardless of what’s going on in life, it’s important to put your best foot forward. Results not excuses.

2. Keep Perfecting Your Craft: No matter how good you are, you can always get better. Success = Timing + Preparation so you should always be sharping your knife. For me, that’s music and singing. I’m always trying to write a better song, see what notes, riffs, or runs I can do that, going to vocal lessons to improve. If someone tells me I’m good, I wanna be great.

3. Stay Focus: There will always be a distraction, naysayers, doubters, haters, it’s inevitable but you gotta have tunnel vision. Only you truly know what you’re capable of and the dream God put in your heart so you gotta stay locked in. It’s You vs You, Me vs Me!

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

Give me space to be myself. I’ve never been like my peers in any space that I go into. I’m always the one standing out, set apart, and in my own lane. My parents gave me that freedom of expression but that always taught me to be comfortable in the skin that I’m in and to no try to blend in. It was always perfectly okay for me to be me and in a world where everyone is looking to some else as the blueprint on how to be, I’m just Jordan Cordel.
