Meet Jordan Cutler

We recently connected with Jordan Cutler and have shared our conversation below.

Jordan, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

Growing up in a family that deeply valued hard work, I learned its importance early on. As a pastor’s kid, I was involved in organizing church events and developing presentations while still in elementary school. In middle school, my sister and I would rake leaves in our neighbor’s yard. By high school, I was juggling two jobs. Reflecting on those years, I understand why it took me a while to find balance, but I always believed (and still do) in the power of hard work to achieve great things.

Through those experiences, I developed essential skills like managing teams and projects and communicating effectively. Alongside hard work, my family had a motto: “Do everything in excellence.” While it took a long time to understand the difference between perfection and excellence, I have kept hard work and excellence top of mind in all the projects I undertake, both personally and professionally.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

By profession, I am a marketing strategist for destinations. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of connecting people with places by working for organizations such as South Carolina State Parks, Discover South Carolina, Downtown Houston, and now, Sugar Land. This role combines my love for hospitality, food, culture, and community in ways I never imagined, and I absolutely love helping to market and elevate these destinations.

In addition, I am the owner of Strategic Solutions Agency, where I equip businesses and brands with marketing plans to achieve their goals. As a bit of a data junkie, I enjoy diving into the data and combining it with creative strategies to create roadmaps for marketing success—it’s my superpower.

Most recently, I launched my passion project, Creative Cor-preneur. This organization is dedicated to empowering young professionals to link their corporate careers with their entrepreneurial aspirations, creating fulfilling careers that bridge passion and purpose while unleashing our human desire to create. After experiencing the challenge of balancing corporate work with running my own business, I saw a need for a community that supports both. Often, we are asked to choose between a corporate path and an entrepreneurial path, but many of us are managing both—about 92% of working Americans have a side hustle! I wanted to create a community where people can find balance, inspiration, and support as they navigate these dual endeavors.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Three qualities that have really made an impact on me are adaptability, ambition, and faith. Life has thrown some major curveballs my way—from dealing with family trauma and a life-changing gut condition to going through a divorce. Growing up, I had this vision for my life that was mostly shaped by my surroundings. Looking back, it makes me laugh!

I think having a vision and setting goals is super important, but being adaptable and managing whatever life throws at you is crucial for personal growth.

Ambition and faith go hand in hand. It’s one thing to dream big and want great things, but it’s another to actually chase those dreams while staying grounded—especially when others might not see your vision. One of the reasons I moved to Houston was my ambition; I fell in love with the city and made it a goal. I didn’t know how it would all come together, but my ambition set the target, and my faith got me here. I always remind myself that “faith without works is dead,” which keeps me motivated to take action. I truly believe I’m on my way to achieving great things, and even though I’ve got a long way to go, my faith is a constant source of strength, reminding me that there’s so much more in store.

For anyone early in their career, my advice would be to focus on being self-aware, helpful, and a problem solver. I Understanding your strengths and areas for growth can help you navigate your career path more effectively. Always be willing to lend a hand to others; being helpful creates connections and demonstrates your value. Lastly, embrace the mindset of a problem solver. Challenges will come your way, but seeing them as opportunities to find solutions will set you apart.

What would you advise – going all in on your strengths or investing on areas where you aren’t as strong to be more well-rounded?

I firmly believe in being well-rounded because we are all multi-faceted individuals. While cultivating our strengths is important, I believe true growth often occurs when we can actively be aware and identify areas needing improvement, especially as we navigate different phases of life.

For instance, in my journey as a marketing strategist, I excel at developing creative campaigns and strategies. However, I’ve realized that I sometimes lack discipline in certain areas. In this current phase of my life, I know that discipline is essential for taking me to the next level, so I’ve sought out resources to sharpen that aspect of my life.

That said, I also think it’s important to sprinkle in activities just for fun. Not everything has to be linked to personal development or work. Our culture often pushes the idea of monetizing hobbies, which can take the joy out of them. For me, engaging in activities purely for pleasure—like salsa dancing or spending time at the beach—allows me to reset, enjoy life, and even sparks creativity or builds confidence that I can carry into other areas of my life.
