We were lucky to catch up with Jordan Gaynor recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jordan, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
So ever since I was young I have always been an artist I loved to draw and I would do it effortlessly. Been told that I need to do something with it so in middle school I started to draw portraits of friends and family and sell them. then as I got older I started seeing people make them on tablets and computers and was being informed that people would go take pictures of others and edit or take cartoon characters and edit them and I felt that that would be so fun for me to do. So I started to download apps to do edits from my phone in highschool which then transferred to college. Once I started college I looked into graphic design and photography and noticed that a lot of people loved taking pictures and I had such an eagle eye for poses and pictures where I decided to take the chance to buy my first camera and go through with it. I ended up gaining a lot of positive feedback, made a website and decided to do it professionally and now here I am going into my senior year of college wanting to expand even more. I love making people smile and giving them memorable moments and slowly adding in videography and graphic design into my business.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
So I am a photographer, I feel like for me what is most exciting is pulling people out their comfort zone and giving them confidence. People love taking pictures that will make them look good and give them confidence to continue and flourish. It gives them memories to go back and look at, I am such a social butterfly that I give off and receive so much positive energy that I want to spread as much as possible
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three qualities would be: Creativity, positive energy, and comfortable environment The main two things I would suggest and say would be have such an open mind and embracing personality and be confident in your own craft
The best way to improve is to start going out places on your own and have your own fun and meet new people and let that inspire you by itself
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
My top two people would be my Mother and my God-father, they have always taught me to be coachable, versatile, and be confident in who I am and what I can do, and that I am my biggest obstacle
