We recently connected with Jordan Mickey and have shared our conversation below.
Jordan, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
I get my resilience from my experiences, my community, and my drive to succeed. Growing up and navigating spaces where I had to advocate for myself and others taught me how to push forward, even when things weren’t easy. Leading the Black Creatives Club + at College for Creative Studies, balancing multiple roles in my career, and continuously evolving in my field have all reinforced my ability to adapt and persevere. I also have an incredible support system:
my family, friends, and mentors, who remind me of my strength when I need it most. But at the core of it, my resilience comes from knowing that every challenge is an opportunity to grow, and I refuse to let setbacks define me.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m a Graphic Design and Digital Marketing Specialist and the founder of Sol Studios, a creative agency specializing in branding, social media strategy, and AI-driven marketing. My work is all about blending design, technology, and strategy to create impactful brand identities and digital experiences.
What excites me most is the intersection of creativity and innovation. Whether it’s designing a brand identity that truly resonates, helping businesses refine their digital presence, or integrating AI into marketing strategies to drive efficiency and engagement. I love seeing how design and marketing can transform a brand’s story and create real connections with audiences.
Right now, I’m focused on growing Sol Studios and expanding its services, including AI and marketing consulting, LinkedIn branding, and resume design. I’m working with various clients across a range of industries, helping them elevate their brands through strategic design and digital marketing. My goal is to continue pushing boundaries, helping brands stand out, and making a lasting impact through design and strategy.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, adaptability, strategic creativity, and leveraging technology have been key to my journey.
Adaptability has helped me navigate industry shifts and leadership roles; staying open to learning is crucial. Strategic creativity goes beyond aesthetics; understanding branding, storytelling, and marketing psychology makes design truly impactful. Leveraging technology, especially AI, has set me apart by enhancing efficiency and innovation.
For those starting out, embrace change, think beyond visuals, and stay curious about emerging tools. Hands-on experience and continuous learning will set you up for success.
How would you describe your ideal client?
My ideal client values strategic creativity, innovation, and collaboration. They understand the power of strong branding and digital marketing and are open to new ideas, including AI-driven strategies. Whether they’re a startup looking to establish a unique identity or an established business ready to elevate their brand, I work best with clients who trust the creative process and are invested in long-term growth. A great client relationship is built on clear communication, mutual respect, and a shared vision for impactful design and marketing.
