Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jordan Person. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jordan , thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us today. We’re excited to dive into your story and your work, but first let’s start with a broader topic that might be stopping many of our readers from pursuing their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. How have you managed to persist despite haters and nay-sayers that inevitably follow folks who are doing something unique, special or off the beaten path?
Circumstances throughout the last decade of my life have brought a ton of happiness and a slew of haters. It’s what happens on your rise to the top. Whatever you are working on, if you are even slightly more efficient, have great ideas, or are a self starter – prepare for the haters.
I have lost many so called “friends” in the last ten years. People that I thought surrounded themselves with me for the right reasons, but in the end, they turned into my biggest haters.
Between my NORML chapter and my business, Primal Therapeutics, I have been publicly hated on through various platforms. I was social media berated after a reporter twisted my words around, I was called a “cannabis prohibitionist” after bearing my soul to change local cannabis laws.
When I wanted to offer Cannabis Massage in 2014 people all over the country had an opinion. Loved ones from back home would call me and tell me not to make posts about what I was doing.
I ignored the haters. All of them. It was hard. Don’t get me wrong, they all made me shed a tear, but at the end of the day – there is only one you.
One you that gets the job done when they can’t. One you that has an idea that can change everything. One you that you have to answer to at the end of the day.
Whenever I fear the haters words and feelings I remember what an amazing mentor said to me one day when I was at a low point, “don’t worry about what those people do or say, they are grains of sand, and you my dear are the whole beach.”

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I own two businesses- Primal Therapeutics, Cannabis Massage and Primal Healing, Organic Hemp Skincare. Primal Therapeutics just celebrated nine years in business at the beginning of 2023. We provide mobile spa services to the Denver and Boulder areas.
Cannabis Massage changed my life. It changes my patients lives every single time I touch someone. Interacting with the Endocannabinoid System of the skin to provide balance and the reduction of inflammation has become my life’s work.
I also teach the topic. Last year I was excited to get my classes to an online platform. You would never believe the hoops that I had to jump through to make that happen. I preserved and they are live. I also teach about Cannabinoids and the skin at the largest spa conference in the country, the International Esthetics Cosmetics and Spa Conferences.
Primal Healing launched in 2019 after making products for Primal Therapeutics patients for 5 years. I launched a full spectrum hemp line of products that could be used in spas and for home care.
In February 2023, several of the products in my line were approved “Oncology Safe” by Oncology Spa Solutions after being tested on Cancer patients for over 6 months.
In March 2023, we launched our newest product, an oil cleanser. This product is organic and unscented. If you have never tried oil cleansing, I highly recommend it. It helps balance your skin in so many ways.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Communication. That is my number one. You have to know how to talk to people and that starts with listening. Listen to the needs of the people on your team, then meet them where they are. Don’t ever assume. Clearly communicate what you need. Do your best to never bring emotions to the table. Especially in business, there is no space for “I feel” or “you made me feel.” Keep your emotions out of the equation. I also recommend being aware of your body language when communicating with someone. Your crossed arms and legs may say more than the words you speak.
Organization. I require organization in my world. In every single aspect of whatever I am doing I probably have a spreadsheet for that topic, and a note in my phone. My brain moves a million miles a minute so I have to write down everything I do. I highly recommend making lists to help you. Also create a dedicated workspace for yourself, and keep it free from clutter so you can stay focused.
Dedication. I am relentless in the pursuit of my goals and dreams. I think my resiliency is what has allowed me to remain in an industry that did not give me a space to grow, so I created it. You have to want whatever it is so much that it’s all you think about. You have to want it more than someone else that may have the same idea. Sometimes, you must do so blindly, for it’s the moments when you question yourself, “what the heck was I even thinking” on those days push yourself even harder.
What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
My relationship with cannabis began at 16 and I spent most of my time using the plant hiding it. It wasn’t until 2010 when I moved to Colorado that I could legally admit I was a medical cannabis consumer. Now I have the ability to surround myself with like minded individuals that are in my same field of interest.
My biggest area of growth in the last twelve months has been in my business, Primal Healing. Organic Hemp Skincare unknowingly gave me a platform to educate the spa world. I am coming into who I am as an Educator in the Spa industry. Teaching fuels my passion for cannabis. Seeing how many spa professionals want to learn more about what cannabis can do for the skin takes my breath away.
Now I sell to spas all over the country, as well as my Etsy shop. I am grateful that my products are finding their way into homes all over. I am finding the network of professionals that believe in the power of minimal ingredients, zero chemicals, cannabinoids, and organic skincare and it’s absolutely amazing,
