Meet Jose Benitez

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jose Benitez a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jose, appreciate you sitting with us today. Maybe we can start with a topic that we care deeply about because it’s something we’ve found really sets folks apart and can make all the difference in whether someone reaches their goals. Self discipline seems to have an outsized impact on how someone’s life plays out and so we’d love to hear about how you developed yours?
Where does your self discipline come from?

I spent years working as a personal trainer. It was my first experience being completely self independent in an environment where the competition was just as good as you. I had to find a way to stay relevant. My disciplined mind and way of life help for me to accomplish great things as a coach. I was recognized for my performance because of that discipline. If I can do this so can the people reading this article. Of which I’m grateful to right about.

It wasn’t until I was completely accountable on all fronts of my life that my discipline rewarded me. To the point where my business was paying me for my time and value.

It started from the moment you woke up. My life is nothing but a sequence of habits, disciplined order, deliberate actions and intended outcomes. I prepare my mind and body as if they are finely tuned machines. Nothing but the best. You have to be as in tune and deliberate as you can be. If you don’t have one hundred percent confidence and conviction in your self and in your product/service, your likely hood of success is slim to none.

I’m not suggesting that insecurities or doubts don’t arise. You just have to learn to overcome those objections. My favorite quote to this day “The obstacle in the path becomes the path. Never forget that within every obstacle is an opportunity to improve the situation.”

As a coach my job was health and fitness. I was the standard for everything I did in life as well as my clientele. I had to be able to relate to anyone regardless of their background.

That meant holding myself accountable to the T.. There’s no missing a workout because when I wake up in the mornings I’m not straggling to fight the alarm. I’m up before the alarm ready to get the day started.

I’m a firm believer in the 10,000 hour rule. The people you surround yourself around can have a big influence on your mindset, attitude and beliefs. If you’re around negative people constantly it sure makes it more challenging to believe your thoughts when they’re not reward.

Focus on setting up order in your life with habits that support your goals. Your lifestyle is meant to help sustain your way of living. It’s not just proper nutrition, and exercise. It’s your mental state, your emotional health, spiritual life, and your ability to be your best version of yourself.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Today I spend most of my day around helping to elevate a brand and service that haven’t gotten proper exposure. I consult for business who seek to enhance their business reputation through changing internal business systems, enhance their customer experience, heighten their social media presence and improve overall business performances. My main areas of expertise is the fitness industry. As for now I work for Navarro Orthodontix doing just that. I’m the Chief Operating officer.

It’s great being able to bring recognition to such a brilliant company.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
This is truly a rewarding question to attend to…

In terms of qualities I’d have to say If your not a master at Time management and knowing what your limits are then your ruled by your anxieties and fears.

Skills I think any successful man or women should have at least is, integrity, especially in their work. Sales and negotiating is something you must excel in. Or at least the ability to make a good impression. It helps if you know your stuff. There nothing better than to know your customers professionals problems and be able to relate to their problems and the ability to have solutions that work. Client wins, everyone wins.

Its like Mark Cuban once said “lack of brains and lack of knowledge” are why you lose. Both of which are in your controls to change. Spend every waking moment living how you want to. With Passion, grit, purpose and the desire to achieve. Learn to roll of the shoulder things like stress and failure. It’ll help later on in life as you earn your stripes.

Learn how to not take everything personally. Work on your well being often.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
The Bible…

Specifically the old testament. One of my favorite books was the Book of Joshua, It talks of courage, hope and new life.
