Meet Jose Luis Cisneros

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jose Luis Cisneros a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Jose Luis, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

Coming from immigrant parents working 12 hours shifts. Hard work is all I knew.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I have always had a fascination with cars since I was a child. When I was old enough to get my first car I realized I wasn’t able to afford a mechanic. So when my car would break down I would search in forums and YouTube on how to fix them. That’s when I realized I love problem solving and working on cars. The passion later turned to buying wrecked cars that are close to being in the junkyard and bringing them back to life. It’s satisfying, knowing that I saved another car. It’s fun making cars faster then they should be. A few years back I started making videos about my journey, and I fell in love with content creation as well.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I believe patients, consistency and faith were most impactful in my journey. When working and cars or creating content things won’t always go as planned. It’s good to be patient and not freak out. Getting frustrated makes everything harder. Being consistent and showing up when you don’t fell like it is what has helped me grow my social media pages. I often have had to sacrifice sleep, quality time with friends and family just finish a build or a video. Lastly having faith in yourself that all the sacrifices you’ve made will help you accomplish the goals you set.

Do you think it’s better to go all in on our strengths or to try to be more well-rounded by investing effort on improving areas you aren’t as strong in?

I believe it’s better to go all in on your strength rather than being more well-rounded. You can get lost and spend a lot of time trying to perfect what you lack. It is better to hone in on what you naturally are good at and what you enjoy doing. There is someone out there that could potentially partner with who has gone in on there strength that happens to be the set of skills that you lack. Together you can get farther
